Some Obvious Broadband Statistics Raising broadband penetration in emerging markets to levels currently in Western Europe could add US$300 to $450 billion to GDP and create 10 to 14 million jobs Doubling the broadband speed for an economy increases GDP by 0.3 percent For every 10 % increase in broadband penetration, GDP increased by 1% 2

Broadband in the Caribbean Broadband penetration in the Caribbean is 28.2% 11,661,750 Internet users 5,930,520 Facebook users Bermuda has the highest penetration: 79.1% Haiti has the lowest penetration: 10.3% 4

At the recent Broadband Summit in Geneva, the commission introduced four key targets for 2015: Target 1: Making broadband policy universal Target 2: Making broadband affordable Target 3: Connecting homes to broadband Target 4: Getting people online 12
