The Bluejays have yet to play a spring match making the Huskers their first match of the season. The Huskers, who defeated Eastern Michigan 7-0 in their last match, have already got their legs underneath them heading in to face the Creighton Bluejays. Huskers Sweep Eastern Michigan in Home Opener The Huskers sealed their first victory of the seaon, and their first victory at home, when they swept the Eastern Michigan Eagles at home in Lincoln. The Huskers didn t drop a set in the whole match leading to the crushing defeat of the Eagles. Huskers Add Two Freshmen To The Roster The Huskers add two new players to their roster to come to a total of eight players replacing the two lost graduates Geibert and Holmberg. Joining the team are Maggy Lehmicke and Lauren Wagner. Lehmicke, a native of Kirkland, Wash., played tennis for Chrysalis School and Northwest High Performance during her pre-college career is not a stranger to the court. Lehmicke was decorated as the No. 74 player nationally in high school and the No. 2 player in the Northwest Region and State of Washington alike. Wagner, a native of Roslyn Heights, N.Y., trained at the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif., participating in various national tournaments. Wagner chose Nebraska stating that she loves the coaches, the current players, the campus and the idea of Nebraska athletics that academics are important. Head Coach Scott Jacobson believes both players will be a tremendous addition to the team individually as both a player and a person. Nebraska Tennis Center The Nebraska Tennis Center is home to the NU men s and women s tennis teams, and is one of the finest facilities in the Midwest. Built in 2006, the $3 million complex features 12 outdoor courts and six climate-controlled indoor courts. The NTC is located in the Abbott Sports Complex, a mile north of Cornhusker Highway, on 70th Street. Complete directions are available at Huskers.com. Huskers No. 17 In ITA Rankings The ITA Division I women s tennis rankings have not been updated and released yet following the Huskers first match against Eastern Michigan. The Huskers remain at No. 17 in the rankings heading in to face the Creighton Bluejays. Looking Ahead Nebraska will host the annual ITA Kick-Off Weekend event at the Nebraska Tennis Center Jan. 26-27. NU will welcome Tennessee, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech to Lincoln. NU will face Tennessee Saturday, Jan. 26 and depending on results
