4. Business Arising: 5. New Business: Motion by George Spall, Seconded by Shirley Barnes that an Electronic Keyboard be purchased for WSAC for choir concerts outside the building. Total cost including Tax $1409.00 Carried 6. Correspondence: A card was received from Dawn Smith, thanking staff and volunteers for the Milestones event. 7. Treasurers Report: Dances behind due to timing. Bus operations are way ahead, we are not paying for repairs. Programs are a little behind. Fundraising will meet its target. 8. Supervisor of WSS: Heating and cooling unit replaced in September. Floors were waxed. Building was closed. All went well. 2017 Capital Budget: replacement of Upper Activity Room floor and Snooker room carpet has been recommended. George Newans Memorial. Need to set date in November. Christmas Dinner changed a bit to keep costs lower. $15.00 versus $30.00 User Fees increase 2.5% Membership Residents. from $20.20 to $21.22. Non Residents from $41.20 to $42.42. Average Course from $31.83 to $32.63. Drop-in programs will remain the same. Windrow Program - some changes to the program to increase the ability of Public Works to be able to respond in a timely fashion to all residents who signed up. 2
Frozen dinners are being sold starting Monday October 17. Cost is $4.50 each. 9. Fundraising: Cheese sales wet well. Will be offered again in the spring before Easter. Bazaar Everything is organized. Approximately 35 baskets are ready to go. Soup and sandwiches will be served. A silent auction will be held. Several vendors will be in attendance. 10. Special Events: Mayor s Volunteer Award October 4. Thank you to everyone who attended. Bazaar October 22. Chair of Fundraising will deal with Volunteers for the day. Gentle reminder to Council to try to attend Remembrance Day Service. November 11, at 10:15. Service starts at 10:30. Santa Clause Parade December 3, 2016. 11. Program Committee: 12. Nomination Committee: Still looking for nominees. Meet the Candidate is on October 20. Voting begins on October 31 until November 6. 13. Transportation Committee: A new driver was trained for Thursday night. Driver got into an accident this week. Minor damage to step on the back. 3
14. Archives: 15. Durham Elder Abuse Network (DEAN): Three new people joining Committee. Teaching on how to conduct a presentation is presently being considered. Next presentations will be on October 5, at the Whitby Legion approximately. 50 people attended, October 20 St. Luke s Presbyterian Church, October. 27 Durham College 16. Older Adult Centre s Association of Ontario (OACAO) Upcoming Conference in Niagara Falls. November 14 and 15. This year Bonnie Spall, Carol James, Amanda Baird and Kim Evans will be attending the meeting 17. Durham Region Games: Now have a new website to launch on November 15, 2016: durhamseniorgames55+.ca Games started October 16, 2016. We need new people for the Executive. 18. Ontario Society (Coalition)of Senior Citizens Organization (OCSCO) Annual meeting November 15, 2016. All sessions and workshops are in Toronto. Shirley Barnes is sending a comment on everything being held in Toronto versus locally. 19. Other: Elsie announced the Flag Raising at Rowe House October 15, 1:00 p.m. This in memory of Shirley Scott. 4
Elsie asked for funds for the treats for the Santa Clause parade. Motion by Shirley Barnes, Seconded by Bonnie Spall to give Elsie up to $150.00 for this.
