Camporee Overview The Great Eastern District Spring Camporee will follow a Racing and down south barbeque theme. It is to be held at New England Dragway. Troops arrive Friday night and set up in a designated area of the camp. Saturday morning troops will have breakfast and attend leader meetings and patrol leader meetings. After opening ceremonies troops will be free to traveler in patrols to watch the racing and check out the cars in the pits. Troops will be responsible for the safety of their members at all times. Troops must also supply their equipment. Patrols will be scored on their barbeque cooking and how much fun they have. Patrols will return to their sites to start cooking. 5:00-6:30, cook dinner to be judged. 9:00 Central camp fire, songs and skits welcome. Sunday 9:00am: Closing ceremony and awards. Troops may leave on their own time frame, but camporee will be official over at 12 noon.
At The Race Track All Troops are expected to have their class A s and their flags this weekend for opening and closing ceremonies. At the track all Scouts will act as Scouts. Scouts will be required to travel as patrols. This will also give the older Scouts an opportunity to teach the new members of their patrols. Each patrol should have an adult leader with them at all times. The race track is a very safe place but you have to pay attention and follow the rules. CAMPOREE REGISTRATION Preregistration Preregister at the Scout Office if possible. Registration fee is $10.00 per participant. The troop cost will be $10.00. CHECK-IN Please bring your payment receipt when checking in at the registration area. Every unit is to check in at registration upon arrival. Please provide the staff with a patrol list including: Troop number, Patrol name, number of Scouts in Patrol, age and rank of each Scout. RULES AND LOGISTICS Fires: Fires are only allowed in containers 12 inches OFF the ground. ALL ASHES ARE TO BE TAKEN TO A DESIGNATED FIRE RING AREA Water: Water will be available at camping site. FIRST AID: First aid emergencies should be directed to the administration area. All minor first aid opportunities should be handled by the individual unit and then checked at the main building. Staff will be on hand throughout the event to monitor for other needs. TRASH: All units must take their trash home!!!!!!!!!!
