Mission & Impact Statements Mission Offering players HOPE and OPPORTUNITY that TRANSFORMS and EMPOWERS their lives. Ultimate Goal exists to offer every refugee and under-resourced youth player in Nashville the opportunity to play organized soccer, to be well trained by caring/mentoring coaches, and to be given avenues to advance to higher levels of competition and opportunity. To accomplish this Ultimate Goal will endeavor to attain the necessary resources to develop and equip them as players and people, will build collaborative partnerships, will recruit and train coaches, and will establish Site Academies and Synergy Leagues in the communities where they live. For more information about Ultimate Goal please visit our "About Us" page on our web site: ultimategoal.net Background John Stayskal, UGM s founder and Executive Director, sensed a unique calling to create an organization that utilized soccer as a platform for opening doors to minister to youth and families who shared a common love for and interest in what the countries of the world call the beautiful game. He organized Ultimate Goal Ministries, Inc. that year in 1995. Driving through S. Nashville in 1999, John s calling matured to focus locally in Nashville s communities as he paused during a stoplight to glance at an adjacent car to view an Arabic woman, covered by her hkimar. The woman signified for him, for the first time, a culturally-isolated people group who were encountering many challenges living in the U.S., the American South, and Nashville s urban context. UGM began serving hers and other foreign-born ethnic youth communities in S. Nashville with the mission to offer them hope and opportunity that empowers and transforms their lives. Eighteen years later, UGM continues to serve the underserved (international/foreign-born) communities of Nashville with youth mentorship and development through soccer. Cultural, religious, and racial/ethnic boundaries isolate their communities to an extent that overwhelms other, less familiar means of engaging their neighborhoods. Impact Our Synergy Soccer league continues to grow now engaging 500+ youth players annually. Additionally, a new program of establishing 'site academies' has been established, starting with almost 100 kids at two sites (Highlands and Haywood Lane apartments). With this grow has come an increase in volunteer and strategic partnership involvement. Our current goals are to become a catalyst in connecting the 'dots' and bringing together those organizations working with refugee youth to enhance existing programming by adding soccer. We currently have 'site academy' pending opportunities in 4-5 locations. Needs 1. Defining our vision in a clear, strategic manner 2. Board development 3. Friend and fund raising (general) 4. Developing strategic site academy locations 5. Create effective budgets and financial reports Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer Financial donations can be given by check, written and sent to Ultimate Goal, PO Box 110334, Nashville, TN 37222. Financial donations can also be made online by going to ultimategoal.net and clicking on the 'Donate/Fees' link. Additionally, in-kind donations, especially of soccer equipment including by not limited to cleats, jerseys, shin guards, soccer balls, cones, pennies, goals and other soccer training equipment, are needed to 'equip' every refugee young person desiring to play but not having the financial resources to afford such equipment. Volunteers are needed in many areas including but not limited to coaches, assistant coaches, grant writers, social media, site academy directors, trainers, drivers, tutors and mentors. Recreation & Sports / Areas of Service Areas Served TN - Davidson Currently we focus our work in the Antioch area, extending to most of the SE Davidson county corridor, generally between Interstate 65 to the West, Murfreesboro Road to the East, Interstate 440 to the North and Old Hickory/Bell Road to the South. However, with our multi-site plan being implemented we will expand our service area to include all of Davidson county. Board Chair Statement One of our greatest challenges is in being a smaller organization with such a huge opportunity to reach refugee kids. We've been extremely successful in building strong, lasting coach/player mentoring relationships that have impacted kids lives, however, there are hundreds of other players we can have a similar impact on if we had the necessary resources (funds, people, equipment). Along those lines we are pursuing strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations in order to enhance what they are already doing effectively (tutoring, mentoring, ESL, job readiness) with an organized soccer program that can add the elements of team sports, coaching, and training that would work to further enhance the holistic work among refugee youth. CEO Statement What makes us unique is that we not only desire to see a young persons life transformed and empowered, but in the vision to encourage and motivate that young person to transform his or her own community. We are not just another soccer program or league. Soccer is just the vehicle in which we 'attract' kids and build relationships. Our bigger vision is seeing the opportunity to literally change the face of our world through changing the life of a young person. Simply put and as an example, what if the answer to Haiti's political and economic problems lies within a Haitian young person residing in Nashville, who through our program is given hope and opportunity that transforms and empowers his life, and through the relationship is motivated and challenged to return to his homeland to impact the cultural landscape of his own people. The players we work with face 24/7 of negative opportunities and temptation. Providing outlets for these young people to play soccer, build lasting, deep mentoring relationships with coaches, and be involved in mentorship, tutoring and community service activites allows us to transform a once hopeless player into a player with confidence, hope and opportunity. 3

We are working on developing a fundraising plan that will address how we as an organization raise funds to support staff so we can work towards eliminating the amount of time each staff member has to give towards raising their support. 7
