ABOUT MIC Mary Immaculate College (MIC), founded in 1898, is Ireland's leading university-level College of Education and Liberal Arts. The College has a growing and diverse community of over 3,000 students enrolled in undergraduate programmes in Education, Liberal Arts, Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies and Early Childhood Care and Education, as well as a range of postgraduate programmes at Diploma, MA and PhD levels. Ireland's most prestigious and top-ranked College of Education and Liberal Arts. Educating 40% of Ireland's primary school teachers, with less than 2% attrition in Education programmes. LOCATION MIC is conveniently located in a leafy suburb just a ten minute walk from Limerick City Centre. With access to all major routes, the campus is just 20 minutes from Shannon International Airport and close to all the most beautiful scenery and tourist destinations in the Shannon Region e.g. the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle. Londondery/ Derry NORTHERN IRELAND Belfast Limerick City, situated on the west coast of Ireland at the mouth of the river Shannon, is the Republic of Ireland's third-largest city. Limerick City was founded as a Viking fortress in the 10th century. Reminders of the city's eventful past include the 12th century King John's Castle, the medieval precinct, and St. Mary's Cathedral. The population of Limerick City is just under 60,000 (2011 census). With half of the city's population under 30 years of age, and with three institutions of higher education, there is a vibrant student culture! Limerick offers many activities for students, including a variety of sports, historical, artistic, and theatrical activities. BACHELOR OF ARTS IN CONTEMPORARY & APPLIED THEATRE STUDIES The BA degree programme in Contemporary & Applied Theatre Studies examines drama and theatre across a range of practical applications and non-traditional settings, including, but not defined by, stage performance and the study of literary texts. Contemporary theatre signals that the programme will deal largely with current and emergent modes of theatrical production and reception. BACHELOR OF ARTS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE & EDUCATION (BA ECCE) The BA degree programme in Early Childhood Care and Education is designed to provide an exciting and challenging programme for those interested in working with young children in a range of educational settings. This programme was developed in recognition of the crucial role quality provision in early years plays in facilitating the development of every child to their full potential.

SUMMER PROGRAMMES SERVANT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE MIC's International Office hosts a servant leadership experience where participants work with various community support organisations in Limerick City. Placements are arranged to suit participants' interests and areas of study, with touristic excursions to famous regional sites and informational sessions with faculty members arranged throughout the programme. INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH METHODS SUMMER SCHOOL MIC Research and Graduate School hosts the hugely popular International Research Methods Summer School each summer, with distinguished keynote speakers discussing the challenges of transforming evidence into measurable impact.
COLLEGE LIFE Mary Immaculate College's student union, MISU, provides support, representation and hosts a huge variety of clubs and societies, including the International Students' Society. " - Amber Geiger, USA The Lime Tree Theatre is Limerick's and Ireland's newest venue for performing arts and is located on MIC campus! There are numerous opportunities to participate in informal and formal productions and public performances by joining the active drama society, MIDAS and the College Choral society. The campus radio station, Wired FM, serves the student population of Limerick City with great music and talk-based radio! Each academic year, over 150 students avail of a free comprehensive training course in all aspects of radio broadcasting and then advance to volunteer positions as student broadcasters, researchers and technicians. ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES Accommodation is generally very easy to find close to Mary Immaculate College, with various options available, including on-campus self-catering accommodation. Mary Immaculate College recently opened a high-spec, 8 bedroom/3 bathroom student house only a couple of minutes' walk from the campus and fully equipped with all mod cons. Off-campus self-catering accommodation is also available at privately run facilities nearby and students may also rent private accommodation in the neighbourhoods around MIC. Being a city campus, no city neighbourhood is outside walking distance! MIC boasts a modern sports facility, including a weights room; indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball and badminton courts; table tennis and dance studios. Outdoors, there is a training pitch, all-weather tennis court and all-weather running track. Other facilities include: banking, restaurant, shop, computer centres, micro-teaching laboratories, library and resource centre, art studios, music studios, video production studios, Franco-German house, Irish language room, language laboratories, and the Postgraduate Research Centre.
