Dear Friends, We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to Daemen College International Business Summer program. Our Master of Science in Global Business department designed a series of discussions on major drivers of today s global business and economic force in North America, Europe and Asia. Participants will also study and practice their English language skills and experience the American culture during our visits to important cultural sites and events. The following program has been divided in four important areas: I. Global Business (Managed by the Master of Science in Global Business Program) i. Discussion on China and USA economic trade and performance main industries, market interconnection, logistics, partnerships and foreign direct investments. ii. Strategic Planning for the Global Market - Competitive orientation and strategies for initial entry, market expansion, and integration of international marketing operations to successfully participate in both emerging markets and regional economic blocs such as APEC, ASEAN, EU, EFTA, NAFTA, MERCOSUR. iii. Regional Business in Latin American, North America, Pacific Rim and European Union. The discussion will explore specific geographic region in relation to global business, trade and business environments, economics, cultural marketing, iv. Visit to transnational companies II English Language Skills The English Language program includes daily 3 hours of English language integrated skills with focus on business vocabulary and everyday communication. 2
III American Culture and Events Professors of American Culture will present a diverse perspective of American history, art and culture. Participants will tour important American sites and experience the way Americans celebrate their heritage with visits to local cultural places and events. Travel Information Transportation Daemen will pick you up at Buffalo, NY airport on June 19 th and take you to Buffalo, NY airport on Aug 1 st, 2014. Arriving by Air Daemen is served by the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. It is 15 minute drive to Daemen. Daemen will provide the vans to pick you up. There are many connection flights to Buffalo, NY. You may arrive in New York City s JFK, Washington, DC, Atlanta or Philadelphia and then change planes for your trip to Buffalo. Arriving by Train Daemen is served by Amtrak in Depew. It is 15 minute drive to Daemen. Daemen will provide the vans to pick you up. Amtrak leaves Penn Station in New York City to Buffalo. Accommodations You will be staying on campus in students apartment style dormitories. Your rooms will each have 4 single bedrooms and common living-room and kitchen. Daemen only allows same gender in apartments. Rooms are supplied with the following: Individual bed, bed linens, blankets, pillow and towels. One desk and chair. Microwave, stove and refrigerator. TV and table. Washer and dryer. Health and Medical Insurance Health Insurance will be provided to you as part of the Summer Institute. Please be sure you provide Nicole with your passport information prior to May 30 th, 2014. Emergency Information Daemen will provide to participants a complete list of emergency phones, direct access to chaperone, hotel and Daemen College. Students will provide to Daemen direct emergency contact, information on any health restriction and special needs. Weather July 2014: average temperature in July is 26 degrees Celsius. However, we would recommend that business casual attire and warm clothing. Cost The program will accept a minimum of twelve and a maximum of twenty students. The program cost is US$ 3,000 per student and includes: 6
a) Intensive English Language Training daily i. Skype interviews will assign the student learning class according to their language skills level. International Business and Global Commerce special discussions b) Transportation between events and tourist attractions. c) Every day breakfast, lunch & Dinner at Daemen restaurant d) Accommodation. e) Lectures, training and cultural events.
