We hope everyone enjoyed our speakers, Dr. Duane Isava and Dr. Bradley Beam. We are very fortunate to have these gentlemen volunteer their time and share their expertise with us, to help enrich the development of our children. If you would like more information about their services, please contact Dr. Duane Isava at duaneisava@hotmail.com. Each year, the Home and School Association proudly acknowledges the extraordinary dedication and efforts of an individual in the school community. We are fortunate at Slade that we have many likely candidates who go above and beyond in service to the school, so it is always a challenge to select just one for this award. This year s very deserving recipient of the HASA Volunteer of the Year Award is Leo Zerhusen, Jr. For those of you who might not know, Leo is chairperson of the HASA Sports Cards and Collectible show hosted each and every month in our cafeteria. This event has grown to such proportions due to his leadership that vendors come from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware to participate. In fact, it has become so popular that eager shoppers arrive as early as 7 a.m.! The show has featured autographed guests from current and former Orioles and Ravens players throughout the years as well. In fact, he is trying to secure a very special guest for an autograph signing in January. In addition to chairing this successful card show which raises thousands of dollars for our school, Leo has also coached basketball over the years and had a sports memorabilia room in our Manhattan After Dark fundraiser. We know that you join us in congratulating Mr. Leo Zerhusen, Jr. Donation requests: A letter was sent home with all students this week requesting donations to help support Christmas at Slade, the Slade Family Bingo, and the spring Bull Roast. We are in need of donations for all of these upcoming HASA fundraisers.
