PAGE 8 From squirrels to Hurricanes to helping in a crisis, LPD officers are there to help... On February 28th, the Problem Oriented Policing Unit conducted two separate traffic stops in the Sunoco gas station. On the first traffic stop, the driver was arrested for trafficking heroin and possession of marijuana. On the second traffic stop, the passenger was arrested for trafficking Fentanyl. These two traffic stops were linked back to a known drug house close to the area (Sunoco). During the course of the investigation, it was learned that there were multiple pieces of evidence that led to a marijuana growth operation. The subject (resident of the home) then provided consent for officers to search the storage room where the growth of marijuana was occurring. There were multiple marijuana plants, in various stages of growth, located inside the storage unit in the rear of the duplex (storage room). The subject was then arrested for cultivation of marijuana. Also located inside the subject's residence were numerous items of narcotics as well.
