V o l u m e 1 8, I s s u e 1 J a n u a r y 2 0 1 7 Lady Republican THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE REPUBLICAN WOMEN OF SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA About R.W. Bray ~ R.W. Bray is the Black Engagement Director of the Republican Party of Texas. Bray attended Dillard University where he studied Business Administration. In 1999 Bray joined the Louisiana Air National Guard where he served as a medic for seven years. After Hurricane Katrina ravished his home town of New Orleans he decided to move to Houston and rebuild. Pursuing his interest in law, Paralegal Studies allowed Bray to test the waters of bringing justice to people seeking remedies. In 2009, Bray decided to join the Texas Air National Guard and was accepted into the United States JAG Corps. Serving as the Law Office Manager of the 147th Reconnaissance Wing at Ellington Field, Bray was able to assist many families and engage, motivate and direct hundreds of soldiers in professional development, personal finance, legal rights and priority setting. Bray has served as the Vice President of the Houston Young Republicans (2011 2012) and the MLK Association of Texas Vice Chair (2013-present). In 2012, Bray ran for State Senate District 6, after coming in third out of eight candidates in a special election, politics became his primary focus aside from supervising the law office at Ellington Field JRB. Inspired by his love for politics and law, he launched SWAY Consulting LLC, a business and political consulting firm dedicated to engaging the public with passion, focus and a commitment to tangible results.
