2019 Charles Washington Memorial Scholarship Application 2 Over the years, the Brazos County Branch of the NAACP has had many distinguished members. One such member was Mr. Charles Washington. Prior to his passing, he was a committed member of the organization with a record of selfless service to the community. In honor of his service and commitment to the NAACP, the Branch created a Memorial Scholarship in his honor. The high school senior who will be graduating this year (2018) will be selected based on a record of good academics, citizenship, and community service. In addition, the student MUST be accepted to an academic or career enhancement program after graduation. Eligibility: U.S. Citizen and resident of the Brazos County. Attend high school in Bryan or College Station Have a high school GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. Completed the SAT or ACT with a score of 1060 or 22. Demonstrated leadership, community service (volunteerism) and the potential to be successful. A Complete Application File Consists of: Personal Information and Activities Profile (mailed) Personal Statement (answers to questions MUST be typed) Validation of High School Academic Record (in sealed envelope) Official High School Transcript (in sealed envelope and included in packet) Letter of Recommendation Forms completed by adult (not family member) (in sealed envelope) Photograph of the applicant with Photograph/Parent Certification page Parental Photograph Consent and Applicant Certification Form Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicants are evaluated based on academics, leadership, citizenship, and community involvement (volunteerism). Payment of Scholarship: It is the responsibility of the scholarship recipient to notify Ms. Wanda J. Watson with proof of enrollment in a post-high school career program or community college or university. Please include a copy of your acceptance letter with your application. Payment of the scholarship will be made directly to the Recipient once they have registered at their intended institution. Scholarship awardees will be required to provide a photograph for publicity. Recipients of the scholarship must enroll in college by the spring semester January 2019.
