Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive training program that brings together youth and young adults, ages 14-30, to further develop character and leadership skills and learn about Rotary. RYLAs often take the form of a seminar, camp, or workshop, generally 3-10 days in length, organized by Rotarians at the club, district, or multidistrict level. Each RYLA shares the following program objectives: To demonstrate Rotary s respect and concern for youth. To encourage and assist young people in responsible and effective voluntary youth leadership by providing them with a valuable training experience. To foster continued and stronger leadership of youth by youth. To publicly recognize the many young people who are rendering service to their communities as youth leaders. Today s Speaker: Mrs. Deborah Pratt Topic: Pursuing your purpose with passion Next week s Speaker: Mr. Adrian Carey
Our Trip to Buckeye was led and organized by our very own Vocational Service Director Mr. Jaims Carey. The trip highlighted that Job Vocations are a distinctive part of the History of Rotary. It is seen as one of the prerequisites to becoming an official member of Rotary. On Tuesday January 24th, the members of the Rotary Club of Lucaya, centered around one of the Rotarian's vocation (Ryan Herry) at the meeting as we were given a tour of the Buckeye Bahamas Hub (BBH) Facility. Buckeye Bahamas is one of the largest oil/fuel hubs in the world when it comes to storage and transport of a variety of fuels. Mr. Oneil Wildgoose (Acting HSSE Manager) was very informative at providing key insight in the overall operation and how BBH generates revenue here in Freeport. The members truly enjoyed the experience and gained a better understanding of the oil industry. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Kim Pratt, who coordinated the site visit. Congratulations to Adaiah Smith on achieving a 4.0 G.P.A. Keep up the good work! Thank you to Past President David Moncur for visiting our Club last week.
