COMMANDER S COMMENTS January is already in the books where did the time go??? And now your Legion gets ramped up for a busy, busy Spring. Over the next few months, we will be awarding scholarships, selecting Boys & Girls State attendees, Junior Law attendees, kicking off the Legion Baseball year, and voting for new officers! Not to mention, the Easter Season is upon us which means Friday night fish fries and Children s Easter Party! We could sure use a few more pairs of hands to get all of this done. Won t you consider donating one of those pairs? It costs nothing but a bit of your time. Contact me if you d like to help out or even run for a Post Officer position. We ll find something that will fit into your schedule and commitment level. Commander Coin recipients: 32 Richard Lemmerman (District 6 Commander and my very first company commander) 33 Colleen Jensen 34 Eric Peterson Until next month, Commander Doris Veterans Crisis Hotline: 1-800-273-8255 S.A.L. NEWS Hello, I hope everyone s 2018 has started off well. Sign-up sheets are now available for Soup & Sandwich and bowling. Upcoming events: February 3 - Soup & Sandwich 5:30 to 7:30pm; March 3 Bowling & Chili; May 5 - Cinco de Mayo celebration: We will be serving home cooked Mexican dishes made by our members. Sign-up sheets will be available soon. As always thank our volunteers for all their work and time they put in to keep our Post running and making our Post the best one around. We are family, John Polson, Commander ADJUTANT NEWS As I have written over the last two years National and Department have raised the amount they charge for dues, which totals $35.00 a year per member. Our board has decided to raise our Post dues to $45.00 a year so we can support our veterans programs. This will happen for the 2019 dues notices that National sends out in July. If you receive a dues notice from National and you have your 2018 membership card just throw the notice away. The Post doesn t mail those notices out Thank you to everyone who gets the newsletter by email or on line; that saves us $9.00 a year that we can use for a Legion Program. I m still amazed when one of our members comes into the Post home and they remark how nice it is and that they haven t been in before; we have been at our home for 6 years! I know some of you live out of state or can t get around like you used to but if you can stop in and support your Post home it would be great! Come for dinner some night or to the birthday bash. This is one way we get money to support our Veterans. Thank you! Greg Petersen Adjutant

AUXILIARY NEWS Hello everyone, The Spaghetti Sauce cook off was a lot of fun and we were able to help Pam with some of her medical expenses. Thank you all for everything you did to help with this event! I love how our Legion Family comes together to support each other! Girls State applications have gone out to the schools, so be sure to talk to any girls that would be interested. We need to have the applications back to us by Feb. 9, so we can choose the delegates that will attend. The Post #374 scholarship application is now available. The qualifying Auxiliary member needs to be a member in good standing with at least 2 years of membership to apply for the Auxiliary scholarship. Having a Legion or SAL family member included in your application will NOT make you eligible for the Auxiliary scholarship, only the Legion or SAL scholarships. Also, make sure everything is filled out correctly, signed and returned by the due date. Don t forget the SAL soup and sandwich night on Saturday Feb. 3 rd and also the chili cook off & bowling on Saturday, March 3 rd. Sign up at the bar if you want to bring your crockpot of chili or to go bowling. We will sell desserts for Taco night on Monday, Feb. 5 at 5:30. Please let me know if you can bring a dessert. The Auxiliary Cooks night is on Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30. We can always use some help, so let me know if you are available. Our next meeting is Tuesday Feb.13 at 7:00 p.m. Hope to see you there!
