VFW POST 10262 Post Minutes May 8, 2017 A joint meeting with the Auxiliary was called to award three $500.00 Scholarships. An Award Certificate and check was presented to each Scholarship Winner. Family members of the awardees were present and Comrade Strasser presented the Burt Platta Scholarship to Calla Hamin, the Mike Helgert Golf Scholaship to Andrew Tepp and the VFW Post 10262 Memorial Scholarship to Grant Roth. was called to order by Commander Cahill: at 1914 hrs. Opening Prayer Read by Chaplain Raschka Charter was undraped for: None. Pledge of Allegiance -- Was recited by all. Guests none. RECITATION OF Section 230102 of the Congressional Charter: Was recited by all. Roll Call of Officers Present 10 Excused 3 Absent 0 VFW Members Present 29 Membership Statistics, Applications, Transfers and Swearing In Of New Members New Member Applications. Comrade Jay motioned that we accept Marine Anthony Carpenter as a member. Motion was seconded by Comrade Zynda. Motion carried. Commander Cahill swearing in Peter Congdon. Membership Stats: Comrade Tessman reported that the current post status is 211 of 224 for 94%, District 7 is at 96%, Wisconsin is 95% and National is 95%. Submissions of Minutes of previous month - April Minutes were accepted. Quartermaster Report Quartermaster Cline reported the following: Canteen continues to do well. Motion was made to accept the Financial Report by Comrade Pohl and seconded by Comrade Jay. Motion Passed. SERVICE OFFICER REPORT. Spoke of the recent news reports of $55 million that was funneled away from the King Veterans Home.

Post Members or Post Family Members in Distress. none. Committee Reports: House Committee; Comrade Gauthier reported: New furnace and AC unit are installed and we should see improvement in less electrical costs. The Eagle Scout project of replacing the flower box and painting of the tank will begin June 3. Last fish fry will be May 26 th with a DJ Wally. Boring of Post equipment and Kitchen equipment will require completing of sign-up form to help control location of the equipment. Grass cutting sign-up sheet is posted on the cooler door. The annual garage clean-out date will be June 10 or 24 th @ 0800 hrs. Floor stripping and re-waxing dates are July 8/9, 15/16 or 22/23. Sign-up sheet will be on the cooler door. Continuing to look at rough drafts and planning of the bar area refurbishment project. Continuing to acquire information for the building addition. Tim & Mary C have requested that the post agree to up-date the back bar area by enclosing it in. Comrade Jay motioned that the HC do the research and bring the amount back for final approval at the next meeting. Comrade Pohl seconded. Motion carried. Next HC dates (12 noon). June 7, July 5, August 9, September 6, October 4, November 8 and December 6. Rifle Squad & Adjutant: Comrade Mockler reported: 3 Funerals completed. Did training of Boy Scouts for flag folding. Memorial Day Event coming up. Whispering Pines Memorial Day Event coming up. Elks Lodge requested Flag Raising on Flag Day. Reminder that the flags need to be put out at the Cemeteries. Comrade Dave Verhage reported: April Breakfast: 120 meals served, $629 profit. YTD Breakfast: 1,023 meals, $3,633 profit. Communications from the Adjutant: Comrade Stoflet reported. Sandbox Celebration July 8 th at the post 3-7 pm 9/11 Memorial Project information placed on bulletin board Honor Flight One Last mission video available for review. Thank You from Grant Roth for $500 scholarship Thank You from WI VFW Foundation for $100 donation Thank You from Vietnams Day Committee for donation Business Council Calendar event put on bulletin board Thanks for giving information for community service. Total of 522 reports were submitted by the post and the auxiliary. Golf Outing. Comrade Stoflet mentioned planning meetings scheduled: May 10 rd, May 24 th @ 1730 hours. Date of event Sept 9 th. Scholarships. Comrade Zynda. No report.

CITIZENSHIP & EDUCATION / YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: Comrade Nagel Working on getting information to the schools. MAP Comrade Dye reported that he would gladly put out dates of events that we need help such as floor stripping on their Facebook page for unit members review. Poppy Committee; Comrade Mudridge. No report. Surgeon; Comrade Yelkin, No report Donations Committee: Comrade Strasser Reported. Comrade Strasser motioned a $100 donation to the Velocity Club House for baseball uniforms. Comrade Jay seconded. Motion carried. 9:00 pm prayer was recited by Chaplain Raschka. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Post Base Ball Cap. Comrade Yelkin presented 4 options. Will have options available for review at Post until next meeting. Commander reported that there are 4 state raffle tickets left for sale. Comrade Matthees suggest that we review the possibility of taking a bus or van to the State Convention to see Comrade Schultz. The following stated that they were planning on attending: Cahill, Matthees, Cline, Mudridge, Stoflet, Tessman Comrade Matthees motioned that mileage be paid for as many drivers is needed to take those wishing to attend the state convention. Comrade Tessman seconded. Motion passed. NEW BUSINESS: Commander Cahill called for Former Post 10262 Commander Stoflet to come forward and conduct the Installation of New Post Officers. All of the appropriate installation paragraphs were read/or repeated as required. The following new and current officers were installed: For Commander: Comrade Joe Cahill For Sr. Vice Cdr: Comrade Al Tessmann For Jr. Vice Cdr: Comrade Don Mugridge For Quartermaster: Comrade Jim Cline For Chaplain: Comrade Frank Raschka For 3 yr.
