ABOUT NUSRL National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi was instituted in the year 2010 by Act No. 4 of Jharkhand State Assembly with the motto नसत व द यत भ न भ व द यत सतह. The vision is to inculcate within the students the nuances of legal culture and instil within them a passion for law, cumulatively with sound legal knowledge, skill, courage, and integrity requisite in the administration of justice and to contribute qualitatively to the growing legal fraternity across the nation. In a world that is fast and constantly changing, students of law must constantly update their knowledge, skills and techniques to match the level of efficiency and professionalism expected from them in the 21st century. The University incorporates various methods and techniques to help the students match that level of expectancy and achieve success in their careers, simultaneously adding quality to the professional sphere of legal practitioners in the nation. ABOUT CCL The territory of law extends over several different facets of its composition, of which, criminal jurisprudence holds a position of paramount significance. Criminal law encompasses within itself not only the statutory mandates and the judicial interpretation, but also takes into consideration the various aspects of the society and of the individual. This branch of jurisprudence involves careful study of the facts and the circumstances revolving around it. The Center for Criminal Law aims at increasing the scope of, and widening the understanding of these different aspects regarding the criminal jurisprudence, in the students. The seeds for the much needed reformation of criminal jurisprudence of tomorrow are to be sown today. The students of law in the present times are going to define the future of law. Hence, the inculcation of nuances regarding this field, in the students of law, is necessary to secure and maintain effective administration of justice in the Indian society in the days to come.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR Seminar is broadly based on the subject of crimes against women which is a critical area of research, this broad topic will be sub divided into 4 themes which will be focusing on specific issues under the broad topic. Participants will have to submit a preliminary abstract on any one of the sub-themes, this abstract will be judged as a qualifier, which will be shortlisted on the basis of their prima-facie research and the method of approaching the topic. Acceptance of fully completed research article will be limited to only those shortlisted candidates. These candidates will be called for presentation in front of experts in that particular field. Further, subject to the availability of quality papers the Centre shall publish the selected papers with ISBN. THEMES FOR THE PAPER: Consent under I.P.C. GUIDELINES CO-AUTHORSHIP: Co-authorship upto a maximum of two authors is permitted. GUIDELINES FOR THE ABSTRACT: An abstract is a brief summary of a research article or any in-depth analysis of a particular subject it is used to help the reader quickly ascertain the paper's purpose and judge it as how much it is in relevance with the theme of the Seminar. The abstract should not be more than 300 words. The text should be in font size 12, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing and Justified. Abstract should be accompanied by a cover letter specifying Name, affiliation, designation, email address, contact number of the author along with name and details of co-author, if any. With all this introductory requirements it should also signify under which sub-theme author is submitting the abstract, to adjudge it with respective set of ideology. The submissions should be made in.doc/.docx format. GUIDELINES FOR THE PAPER: The title of the paper should be followed by Name, Designation, Name of the Organization/University/ Institution, E-mail address and Short bio. Name and details of Co-author, if any. The paper should be typed in MS Word format preferably 2007 or 2010. The paper must be in single column lay-out with margins justified on both sides. The length of the paper should be between 3,000 4,000 words (including footnotes). The sub-heading should be in Font size 12, Bold, Times New Roman and Center aligned. The main text should be in Font size 12, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing and Justified. All references must be in form of foot-notes with Font size 10 single spacing. For citation Bluebook style 20 th edition should be followed.
HOW TO SUBMIT Last date of submission of abstract is 1 st November, 2017 by 11:59pm All the submissions must be submitted via email to centerforcriminallaw.nusrl@gmail.com. The selection of the abstracts will be communicated to the authors by 4 th November, 2017 11:59pm via respective e-mails mentioned in the cover letter. Last date of submission of full-length paper is 15 th of November, 2017 by 11:59pm REGISTRATION PROCEDURE The registration fee for the Seminar is rupees 1000/- for faculties, academicians, lawyers, etc. and rupees 700/- for law students (individually) and 1500/- (for Co-authorship) is required to be paid along with registration form. The registration fee is to be paid through Demand Draft in the favour of Registrar NUSRL Ranchi, payable at Ranchi. The authors have to submit their Registration Form along with details of Demand Draft electronically via email to centerforcriminallaw.nusrl@gmail.com.
ACCOMMODATION The organisers shall not provide the accommodation. However, in case, if any participant wishes to seek accommodation then he/she shall be provided with the accommodation in the University campus. The charges applicable to avail such accommodation are rupees 500/- per night.
