Chia Feng Lin was elected President of the chapter. Meng Jie Lin was selected as Vice President. Symposium on Nanovision Technology (Date: 2010/06/21) The SPIE Chapter at National Taipei University of Technology co organized Symposium on Nanovision Technology on June 21, 2010. The symposium was held in the 6th Teaching Building in NTUT. Four professors of Shizuoka University in Japan and four experts with industry experience in Taiwan were invited. They are famous for their researches in the field of nanovision, display, and image. The schedule of the symposium is listed below.

Invited Presentations (Date: 2010/12/06) Speaker:Prof. Motofumi Suzuki Present job: Department of Micro Engineering, Kyoto University Time:12/06 ( 一 ) pm 02:00~5:00 Title: Growth of Self Organized Nanostructures by Oblique Deposition at Low and High Substrate Temperature Motofumi Suzuki is an associate professor at Kyoto University. His current research interests include the optical properties of nanostruc tured thin films and the synthes is of novel nan ostructures. He is a member of SPIE, AVS, The Physical Society of Japan, The Japan Society of Applied Physics, The Surface Science Society of Japan, the Vacuum Society of Japan, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Invited Presentations (Date: 2010/12/07) Title: Liquid Crystal Displays: Development of Liquid Crystal Displays Speaker: Dr. Chang Ching Tsai (Direction of Orlando Photonics Lab Corporation, USA) Research interest: Liquid crystal displays, laser beam steering, and sub wavelength optics. The number of attendees: 135 Chang Ching Tsai received the Ph.D. degree in optics from College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, Orlando. His current research interests include liquid crystal displays, laser beam steering, and sub wavelength optics.
2010 SPIE Student Leadership Workshop & Optics and Photonics Annual Meeting: Chia Feng Lin represented NTUT Student Chapter to participate in SPIE Student Leadership Workshop on July 31, 2010. He also attended Optics+Photonics meeting held in San Diego. The SPIE society provides an excellent opportunity for him to communicate with other student members. He appreciates greatly for that. 2010 NTUT Student Chapter Exhibition (date: 2010/08/01 2010/08/5) Chia Feng Lin, Meng Jie Lin, and Ching Ho Tien presented their researches during the oral and post section in Optics and Photonics Conferenc e on August 5, 2010. The titles of the articles: Equivalent admittance of semi continuous silver films, Single dielectric columnar thin film as a broadband polarization conversion device, and A nanorods AlN layer prepared by sputtering at oblique angle and application as a buffer layer in a GaN based light emitting diodes. 2011 SPIE Photonics West: (date: 2011/01/22 2011/01/27) Jheng Jie Liu, Shih Hao Ou, and Hsuan Ming Tang presented their researches during the post section in Photonics West Conference on January 26, 2011. The titles of the articles: Fabrication and performance characterization of 1550 nm hetero multiplication avalanche photodiodes for single photons detection. Planned Chapter Activities: We plan to ho ld an opti cs conference in National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) this year. Prof. Shin Tson Wu, who is teaching College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, USA, will be invited. Dr. Wu is a recipient of SPIE G. G. Stokes award and SID Jan Rajchman prize. He is a Fellow of the Society of Information Display (SID), Optical Society of America (OSA), and SPIE. The conference will open the paper submission for Taiwanese students. The students in NTUT are also welcome to participate in the conference. The post exhibition and oral section will be held in the 6th Teaching Building in NTUT on May, 2011.
