The meet is slated for a 6:45 p.m. CT start. This marks the first time the Sooners will have faced multiple teams in one meet this season. THERE S NO PLACE LIKE HOME On Friday, the Sooners will look to build upon their 83-4 all-time home record under 11th-year head coach K.J. Kindler. OU has claimed 21 straight victories in Norman, dating back to 2014. BEST OF THE BEST For the third straight week, the Sooners remained the No. 1 squad in the nation with an average score of 197.781. As a team, OU is ranked in first place on three of four events, including vault (49.450), bars (49.438 average) and floor (49.519) and sits second on beam (49.388). TOP TOTALS Of the top scores so far this season, three of OU s rank in the top four. OU holds the top two scores with totals of 198.025 (vs. UCLA) and 197.925 (at West Virginia), while its 197.750 vs. Alabama, the best season-opening score in program history, comes in fourth. DEPTH DISPLAYED Oklahoma has showcased the depth it has on its roster, with 14 Sooners appearing in at least one lineup or performing an exhibition routine. Freshman Maggie Nichols and senior Chayse Capps have competed all-around in all four of OU s meets, while senior Charity Jones (VT, BB, FX) and sophomore Brenna Dowell (VT, UB, FX) have ROTATION ORDER TOP NCAA SCORES Rank Team Score 1. Oklahoma 198.025 2. Oklahoma 197.925 3. LSU 197.825 4. Oklahoma 197.750 5. Utah 197.625 appeared on three events. Senior McKenzie Wofford (UB), juniors Natalie Brown (BB, FX), Stefani Catour (UB, BB) and AJ Jackson (VT, FX) and sophomore Nicole Lehrmann (UB, BB) have competed on their respective events in all the meets. Sophomore Alex Marks (VT) has made two appearances, while freshman Jade Degouveia made her collegiate debut on vault at West Virginia. At Iowa State, Degouveia again did vault, while senior Nicole Turner competed on floor for the first time as a Sooner. Wofford also exhibitioned on beam against Alabama, while Lehrmann (VT), junior Samantha Craus (UB), senior Kara Lovan (BB) and Turner (FX) all exhibitioned in the UCLA meet. SWAGGIE MAGGIE Oklahoma freshman Maggie Nichols has dazzled thus far on the collegiate gymnastics scene. Below are some of her accomplishments so far in 2017. Set OU s all-around program record with a huge 39.875 at West Virginia on Jan. 21. According to records from RoadtoNationals.com dating back to 1998, that score ties as the best ever by a freshman (April Burkholder of LSU and Ashley Kelly of Arizona State, both on March 21, 2003). Recorded the first 10.0 of her career on vault at WVU. The perfect score was the second by a true freshman on any event in OU history, joining teammate Brenna Dowell (bars, 2014). Impressed in her debut against Alabama on Jan. 6, scoring a 39.725, the highest mark by a freshman in her first meet according to records from RoadtoNationals.com dating back to 1998. QUICK HITS Freshman Maggie Nichols (Big 12 Gymnast and Newcomer of the Week) and junior AJ Jackson (Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week) gave the Sooners their third sweep of the conference awards in 2017. Nichols is the first gymnast to receive Big 12 Gymnast and Newcomer accolades in the same week. The Sooners have grabbed 11 honors this season. Three current Sooners have scored perfect 10.0s in their careers, including Brenna Dowell (UB, 2015), Chayse Capps (BB, 2016) and Maggie Nichols (VT, 2017). OU started 2017 ranked No. 1 in the NACGC/W Preseason Coaches Poll for the second straight season. It marks the seventh straight year the Sooners have been ranked in the top five nationally to begin the season. Oklahoma returns eight previous NCAA All-Americans who own 21 total accolades: Natalie Brown (BB), Chayse Capps (VT, UB, BB, FX, AA), Brenna Dowell (UB, FX), Nicole Lehrmann (UB, BB), Kara Lovan (FX), AJ Jackson (VT, UB, FX), Charity Jones (VT, BB) and McKenzie Wofford (UB). The Sooners will take on No. 17 Auburn in the meet. BRENNA S BACK After deferring last season to compete with Team USA at 2015 World Championships and 2016 Olympic Trials, Brenna Dowell made her return to Norman against Alabama. The sophomore nailed her Yurchenko 1 ½ vault for a career-high 9.95. She also competes on bars and floor. Dowell was a first-team All-American on bars and floor as a freshman, helping OU to a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships. SENIOR STARS OU s senior class will provide leadership on and off the competition floor for the Sooners this season. Chayse Capps, Reagan Hemry, Charity Jones, Kara Lovan, Nicole Turner and McKenzie Wofford make up this year s talented group. Since their arrival in Norman, the Sooners have secured two NCAA Championships (2014, 2016) and a third-place finish (2015). Capps, Jones, Lovan and Wofford have combined for an impressive 13 NCAA All-America honors in their careers. NO BREAKS Overall, 11 of OU s regular-season opponents entered the season ranked according to the NACGC/W Coaches Poll, including seven squads listed in the top 10 nationally (No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 UCLA, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Auburn, No. 9 Georgia, No. 10 California). RoadtoNationals. com rated the schedule as the seventh-toughest slate in the nation at the beginning of the season. LAST TIME OUT Competing on the road for the second consecutive week, OU showed poise as it secured a 197.425-195.275 victory over Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 27, inside Hilton Coliseum. The Sooners posted the highest total on all four events and also earned the individual title on each event and in the all-around. Freshman Maggie Nichols continued her impressive start to her collegiate career, picking up five individual honors on vault (9.95), bars (9.95), beam (9.9), floor (9.925) and in the all-around (39.725). COMMIT TO 3 Coming off a spectacular season in which Oklahoma claimed its second NCAA crown, the 2017 Sooners are refocused and ready to work toward reaching the pinnacle of their sport for a third time. OU tied with Florida to win its first national championship in 2014, becoming just the sixth school to ever earn a title, before snagging its first out-right win in 2016.
