BAFS Students Express HKICPA Examination in BAFS NEWS / INFORMATION / EVENTS / ACTIVITIES NEWS HKICPA Examination in BAFS Take HKICPA Examination in BAFS to get level 5** in HKDSE Examination The HKICPA Examination in BAFS equips BAFS students to prepare for HKDSE Examination. Commented by the HKDSE 5** students, HKICPA Examination in BAFS is highly recommended as an ideal mock examination for helping them to prepare well and achieve outstanding result in their examinations. In 2016, statistics show that 81% of the Top 50 secondary schools (Note 1) have enrolled our examination and 63% of students (Note 2) who achieved level 5** in the 2016 HKDSE Examination for the subject BAFS had taken the HKICPA Examination as their mock examination. 1.4% HKDSE Examination BAFS 63% 5** Student in HKDSE Examination in BAFS 1.4% of HKDSE Examination 2016 candidates achieving level 5** in BAFS. 63% of candidates who achieved level 5** in the HKDSE Examination for the subject BAFS had taken the HKICPA Examination as mock practice. Note 1: The source is from The Top 50 HK Education Competitiveness Secondary Schools in 2016 published by the Hong Kong Professional Education Press. Note 2: The figure is based on the responses from the HKICPA Examination in BAFS candidates who took both Papers 1 & 2 in 2016. As some candidates did not report their HKDSE Examination 2016 results to the Institute, the actual percentage may be higher than the reported figures.

EXAM scholarship HKICPA scholarship for secondary schools 2016-2017 calls for nominations HKICPA is keen to nurture young talent. The aims of the scholarship are to recognize academic merits; to encourage senior secondary students to pursue the HKICPA Examination in BAFS; and to serve as a financial aid for deserving students. The nominations for the 2016-2017 scholarship are now being accepted. Each eligible secondary school may nominate one full-time F.5 student who is studying BAFS accounting module for the scholarship. The nominee shall be the top student in BAFS within the whole form (based on F.4 result) and he / she should be studying accounting module in F.5. ACTIVITIES seminar Pre-examination technique seminar A pre-examination technique seminar will be held on 26 November 2016. It aims to equip students with better skills to tackle the HKICPA Examination in BAFS in the December 2016/ January 2017 session and to evaluate students performance in the December 2015/ January 2016 session. The seminar is free-of-charge for teachers club members, students who have enrolled in the December 2016/ January 2017 session, and their school teachers. ACTIVITIES BAFS students Company visit and young reporters meet CPA HKICPA organizes a series of activities for students during the summer. On 11 August 2016, finalist teams of the accounting and business management case competition 2015-2016 and a group of secondary school students visited International Housewares Retail Company Limited (JHC), the selected company for case study in the competition. The visit is part of the learning activities followed by the competition. In addition to a visit to the JHC s headquarter, participating students Students visiting one of the JHC concept stores had an opportunity to join a guided tour to its concept shop and warehouse as well so as to understand the business operation of a company in real life. 1 Furthermore, the Institute organized the young reporter programme to further reinforce the learning experience of the case competition winning teams. This year s champion team members interviewed Mr. Dave Cheng, chief financial officer and executive director of International Housewares Retail Company Limited, to learn more about his CPA life and career development. To help students prepare for the competition and enhance their business knowledge, a briefing session and free seminars will be organized for all teachers and participating students. Closing dates for briefing session and competition registration are 11 October and 11 November 2016 respectively.
