State Directory: State Nonprofit Exempt Organization Directory Available on request (The directory contains 15 fields; EO Name, EO Tax ID, Contact Name, Address, City, State, ZIP, Exemption Type, Ruling Year, Asset Amount, Income Amount, Revenue Amount, Ruling Year, NTEE Activity Type and NTEE Code). Abbreviations: EO = Tax Exempt Organization (Nonprofit) NTEE = National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) by IRS to classify nonprofit organizations activity type. 11

501(c)(3) = The exempt purposes of 501(c)(3) are charitable, religious, educational, scientific, literary, testing for public safety, fostering national or international amateur sports competition, and preventing cruelty to children or animals 501(c)(4) = 501(c)(4) organizations are generally civic leagues and other corporations operated exclusively for the promotion of "social welfare". 501(c)(4) organizations may inform the public on controversial subjects and attempt to influence legislation relevant to its program. They may also participate in political campaigns and elections, as long as their primary activity is the promotion of social welfare. 501(c)(4) organizations are not required to disclose their donors publicly.[59] The lack of disclosure has led to extensive use of the 501(c)(4) provisions for organizations that are actively involved in lobbying, and has become controversial. Criticized as "dark money", spending from these organizations on political TV ads has exceeded spending from Super PACs. 12
