November / December 2014 Another Great Year It s that time of year and I would like to take a few moments to give thanks for my many blessings. Of course my family, my mom, sister, and aunt who come to many of our programs throughout the year and the rest of the family who have to listen to us talk about them and have learned to play chair volleyball at family picnics. The Community Center and all it offers is second to none but it s the members and all the seniors who make my job enjoyable. I have come to know a lot of you as friends and it s very rewarding to see how much you enjoy coming to the events I plan for you. I also want to thank my fellow employees without them my job would be much more difficult. A special thanks to Jay and his staff for a very successful Active Aging Week. Last but not least, thanks to my supervisors, Sharon and Greg for your support throughout the year. I m looking forward to 2015 and hope you will join me in all the adventures it has in store! Time to Share with the Giving Tree This year we will again partner with the City of Springdale through S.O.S. (Springdale Offering Support) to provide for less fortunate families within our community. A Giving Tree will be in the Community Center lobby. Listed on each ornament is a gift item requested by the family. If you would like to participate, select an ornament and sign it out at the front desk, and purchase the item written on the ornament. Return the gift, wrapped or unwrapped, with the tag attached to the Springdale Community Center by Friday, December 5. If you have any questions, please call 346-3910. Annual Holiday Luncheon Friday, December 5 11:30 a.m. What better way to start the holiday season than with our annual Holiday Luncheon! This year we will return to Vincenzo s Ristorante Italiano in Sharonville to celebrate the holidays with good food and great entertainment. The menu will include a choice of three entrées: Pollo Ripieno Dante (breast of chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese served over farfalle pasta with a mushroom prosciutto cream sauce), Pasta with Bolognese Sauce (tomato sauce with meat) or the Fresh Catch of the Day (served with a light lemon-white wine sauce) with pasta Alfredo and fresh mixed vegetables. All entrees include a house salad, bread, soft drinks, ice tea, coffee and dessert. Entertainment for the afternoon will be Dale Fetick performing all the Christmas classics. The cost for this festive afternoon is $15.00 for members and $17.00 for guests. Reservations must be made with payment by November 28. Stop by the front desk or call 346-3910 with questions.
