VP Maritime Affairs Ken Lee Dan Pedrick NOSC; Enjoyed the Sailor of the Quarter and Sailor of the Year luncheon. Ken Lee, Dan & Elinor Pedrick & Chuck Stark attended this event. Dan requested more visual support from the Navy League Board; he would like to see more members attend these events. Dan commented on how impressive these young men and women are and that it is a worthwhile event to attend. Sonia Foster USCG; Sonia presented the Guardian of the Quarter award to an unsuspecting sailor who saved the Coast Guard $76,000 in expenses because he made the time and effort to repair something himself. Jerry Nelinson was the sponsor for this award. o Ken introduced Frank Verna from the Palm Beach Sea Cadet unit to the CO and XO of the Lake Worth Coast Guard base. They are hoping to re-establish a relationship so that the sea cadets from Palm Beach Division may have activities there. o Sonia suggested looking into the Coast Guard Auxiliary to help support the Sea Cadets as well. o Eric questioned why the CO of American Veterans was not included in the introduction. The thought had not occurred to either Ken or Sonia. Ken suggested Frank finish working something out with Coast Guard first and then have him communicate with Larry Saulog, the CO of American Veterans Division. Lou Palumbo AUTEC; AUTEC stopped having Sailor of the Quarter awards because it was too expensive to have a NL board member travel to the base. Lou and Ken have worked something out where the presentation will be done locally and taken back to the base. AUTEC will supply the names of six awardees and Lou will get them to AUTEC WPB and CO will present at AUTEC Andros Island. USS FLORIDA Out of communication USMC Nothing to report VP Youth Programs -Nancy Fish Nancy Fish-Averhart will send out request to the four youth organizations to ask for their nominees for Top Performers for 2015 and Commander of the Color Guard for April 16 Youth Appreciation dinner. VP Membership -Mike Hurley Mike thanked Ken Lee for putting together the Year in Review photo slide. Mike encouraged the board to share this with friends who would like to know what the PBC NL US does for our community. It is an excellent resource. Mike reminded everyone that national has reduced the annual membership fee from $65 to $55

Ken gave a brief summary of what PBC NL US did for the youth organizations it supports. VP Communications Jerry Nelinson The board would like to see more articles written in Sea Power Magazine Comment from the Floor VP Development Sharon Donahue has been a no show. She is very busy running 3 agencies with over 65 new agents. May need to consider someone else for this position. Ken will touch base with her and find out what can be done. Phil asked if any youth will be attending upcoming luncheon where the couple that gave the large donation will be present. No youth coming as it s a mid-week luncheon. Sumner asked why we no longer have a benediction when we start our board meeting. He sited the fact that it has been a long standing tradition and at one point, we had a chaplain. Sumner proposed a prayer before each meeting if president so chooses. This was noted by president. No further action or comment at this time. Chuck was thankful for the opportunity to hand out awards to fellow Hospital Corpsman at the NOSC Sailor of the Quarter event two weeks ago. Minutes submitted by Cindy Saulog, Secretary Meeting adjourned promptly at 12:45 pm
