Transcription:

March 2018 Dear Graduate: Commencement is quickly approaching and is a day for celebration and recognition! Cleary plans to make this event an enjoyable one for you and your guests. Due to increasingly large graduating classes and limited seating, we ask that graduates invite no more than six of their friends and family to attend and celebrate this academic achievement. You may also refer to http://www.cleary.edu/graduation for commencement details. The Commencement Ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Lloyd and Mabel Johnson Center for Business and Community Excellence at our Livingston campus. The Johnson Center will be open for guest seating at 8:00 a.m. Anyone arriving after the ceremony begins may enter only at the rear doors of the Johnson Center. Parking on campus is limited and may fill quickly. Overflow Parking is available at the Grand River Plaza Shopping Center, 3599 E Grand River Ave, Howell, MI 48843 near Carson s. All guests parking in overflow parking area will be bussed to the University. If campus parking is full, guests with special needs may continue to be dropped off at the east side of the Johnson Center. When you arrive, please leave your valuables with family or friends. Please arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. and report to Richards Hall in the Chrysler building for registration and photos. Your picture will also be taken during the ceremony. You will be given the option of ordering prints of these photos from Mixer Media. Upon arrival to Richards Hall, Chrysler Building, please collect your name card for your personal announcement and information card for the photographer from the registration table. For students earning an Academic Excellence medallion, it will be attached to your name card. Cleary staff members will direct you to the location where you will assemble for robing, hooding, and photos. Your cap and gown will be available for pick up at the Cougars Den which is located in the Chrysler Building, Room 103. Gowns will be available for pickup on April 25 from 9:00 a.m. through May 4 at 5:00 p.m. Students will need to call (517) 338-3013 if alternate arrangements are needed to get their gowns. Gowns will not be available the morning of commencement.

Extra tassels, announcements with double envelopes, thank you notes, class rings, and diploma frames will be available for purchase in the Cougars Den in the Chrysler Building 103, 3750 Cleary Drive, Howell Campus. Please call the Cougars Den at 517-338-3043 for more information. Personalized announcement packages are available at www.herff-jones.com/colege/graduation. Cleary University alumni sweatshirts, diploma frames, and other Cleary merchandise will be available for purchase at the Cougars Den from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on commencement day. Finally, be advised that the University s policy dictates that all degree requirements, including prior learning credits, be completed by the end of Summer 2018 in order for a student to qualify to march in this commencement. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by Assistant Provost, Dawn Fiser. Diplomas are mailed to your primary address on record. Congratulations on your achievement! If any questions remain unanswered, do not hesitate to contact your academic advisor. The staff and faculty at Cleary University look forward to sharing this memorable day with you. Sincerely, Lance B. Lewis Provost & Chief Academic Officer

March 2018 Dear Student, As a part of our commencement ceremonies we honor high-achieving graduates with awards. We will be recognizing students who attained high scores on their Peregrine Common Professional Component (CPC) exam with medallions.* As a measure of student academic achievement, we require all graduates at the baccalaureate level and the master s level to take the Peregrine CPC exam, which measures general business knowledge. The University uses this test to measure and improve curricula as well as to measure how well we are doing compared to other institutions. Although there is no minimum score required, the outcomes are important to the University as a comparison against national averages. The results of the Peregrine exam will be used to determine which students qualify for special honors. Students will receive medallions before our graduation ceremonies based on their scores. The honors are determined as follows: *Students who score in the top 10% (90 th percentile and above) of the graduating class will receive a gold medallion; *Students who score in the top 11% - 20% (80 th to 89 th percentile) range will receive a silver medallion; *Students who score in the top 21% - 30% (70 th to 79 th percentile) range will receive a bronze medallion If you are unable to attend the commencement ceremony and are awarded a medallion, it will be mailed to you during the week after the ceremony. Sincerely, Lance B. Lewis Provost & Chief Academic Officer
