The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana will be the partner and trusted resource for philanthropy in our community, providing stewardship of charitable intent so the impact of generosity will last for generations. 2018-2019 Scholarship Program Information Packet Visit www.cfsouthernindiana.com for more information! What is the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana? The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, Inc. was formed in 1991. We are a charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code, committed to enriching lives in our community. A sincere thank you goes to The Lilly Endowment Inc. for their contributions to our scholarship program. The Endowment granted funds to community foundations throughout Indiana to promote higher education. This has enabled the Foundation to set up many funds for this specific purpose. The vision of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana is to be the partner and trusted resource for philanthropy in our community, providing stewardship of charitable intent so the impact of generosity will last for generations. The Scholarship Program The scholarship program consists of over 70 scholarship funds established by donors desiring to assist students in Southern Indiana in obtaining a college education. A listing of all of our scholarship funds can be found on our website in the Foundation s Annual Report. There are 16 recurring scholarships which are actively administered by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, but not all of them may be offered each school year. Students who meet the eligibility requirements of any of these scholarships as outlined below may apply to the program and, if eligible, may be awarded a scholarship from one or more different funds. The Foundation is committed to assisting students of our community in pursuing and completing higher education degrees. As we build our scholarship program, our focus is to grow and create endowment funds to provide renewable scholarships at a level of financial impact for diverse educational needs. We hope to continue to provide opportunities and share in students success. Together with the donors who make these awards possible, we work toward the goals of growth, knowledge, and enrichment for our community. The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana takes great pride in its efforts to maintain the anonymity of its applicants. Tracking applicants by an assigned application number as opposed to tracking them by student names is a major part of this safeguard. Business and community leaders from each of the counties we represent and other surrounding counties, volunteer their valuable time to review the applications and ensure that scholarship awards are made as a true reflection of our community enhancing the integrity of the safeguards instituted for the protection of our applicants.
