This National Exhibition is a Seven-Day Activity including a day for excursion. (The information regarding the Local Contact Persons at Silvassa is also given in this letter.) In this regard, you are requested to kindly forward the details of participants in the attached ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM immediately to the Coordinator, JNNSMEE- 2012. The same may also be scanned and forwarded at the email address jnnesec2012@yahoo.com. 2. As this is a prestigious national programme, the exhibits need to be presentable and properly displayed in the exhibition. You may, therefore, request the participating student and teacher, only one each, of your institution to improve the exhibit on the basis of suggestions given in the enclosure titled "Some Points for Proper Display of Exhibits". 3. You are aware that on the occasion of the 125 birth anniversary of great Indian Mathematician S. Ramanujam, NCERT is celebrating 2012 as the Year of Mathematics. During this exhibition, NCERT envisages to organise activities related with Mathematics. These include lectures, poster competitions etc. Interested participating teachers and students may be suggested to come prepared for such activities. 4. You may be aware that the students and teachers from different parts of the country participate in the Exhibition. Cultural programmes are also arranged in the evenings during the period of the exhibition. It is envisaged that children and teachers from different parts of the country also participate in these programmes and reflect their culture, traditions and

conventions. If your teacher and student like to participate in the cultural event(s), they may be advised to come prepared with necessary material. 5. You may also kindly note the norms and guidelines as given below for participation in the exhibition. These guidelines are mandatory: (i) Only one student and one teacher per selected exhibit will be permitted with each exhibit. If two or more exhibits are selected for participation in JNNSMEE 2012 from the same institution, even then only one teacher will be allowed to escort the participating students. However each participating exhibit can be represented by different students (one student per exhibit). (ii) In case more than one student or teacher have been associated with the development of an exhibit, even then, only one student and one teacher will be permitted to participate. (iii) Please note that no request for additional participants will be entertained by the NCERT. (iv) The teacher/student should not bring their families/parents to the exhibition. In any case, such additional persons will not be allowed to be registered. They will have to make their own arrangements for their boarding and lodging etc. (v) The CERTIFICATE for the participation of the exhibit at the Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition for Children 2012 will be issued to all students and teachers associated with the development (or guiding) of the exhibit. (vi) In case, if Guide Teacher is not able to participate, another teacher may be allowed to escort the participating student. However such escort teacher will not be given any Certificate. (vii) Boarding and lodging will be provided to the bonafide participants free of cost as per rules of the NCERT. JNNSMEE Participants will be received at Vapi/Balsad Railway Station(s) and at Bhilad/Silvassa Bus Stand(s) by the volunteers of the Exhibition and brought to the venue. The participants are advised to contact the JNNSMEE Reception Counter on arrival at the Vapi/Balsad Railway Station or at Bhilad/Silvassa Bus Stand. Information about reaching Silvassa may be seen from Tourist Information and Getting There at http://dnh.nic.in/deptdoc/vguide.pdf (viii) The Reception Counters as mentioned in above paragraph shall open two days before the start of the exhibition (that is on November 29, 2012). Please ensure reaching to these Reception Counters by December 01 morning. After that the Reception Counters will be removed. (ix) Since the registration and installation of exhibit at the exhibition-ground may take time, it is advised to plan journey for reaching Silvassa at least a day before the start of the exhibition (that is November 30, 2012). Similarly the return journey may be planned on the next day of conclusion of the exhibition (that is on December 08, 2012). (x) Space and electricity connections etc. will be provided at the venue as per requirement. Running tap water will not be provided for the exhibits. (xi) In order to encourage national integration, it is expected that the participants will enjoy their stay similar to that of a camp life. Only regional/local vegetarian food will be provided during the exhibition. Participants with special needs on account of boarding will have to make their own arrangements. (xii) The weather in Silvassa remains generally moderate, less warm during the monsoon and pleasant in winter. Participants are advised to bring appropriate clothing. The participants are also suggested to bring their own bedding (bedsheet and blanket) etc. (xiii) The safety of exhibits during exhibition hours and personal belongings during the period of stay will be the responsibility of the participants. No claim for any loss of

articles will be entertained. Participants are requested to keep valuables under their lock and key. (xiv) As Silvassa is a tourist place, hence participants are advised to book their return journey tickets in advance. 6. T.A. and Freight (i) The exhibit should accompany the participant and in no case should be sent by mail or as unaccompanied freight. (ii) Payment of freight expenses for the exhibit only will be made on production of receipt of money spent as freight charges. The expenditure incurred for hiring tempo/three wheeler scooter etc., at the station as departure or during transit shall be reimbursed only on production of a duly signed money receipt with the registration number of the vehicle, as per NCERT rules. (iii) Coolie charges for the exhibit only, will be paid as per rules of the NCERT. (iv) T.A. for non-local participants: Sleeper class rail fare both at return concessional rates by the shortest route or (ii) actual bus fare both ways (limited to sleeper class rail fare where places are connected by rail) or (iii) actual bus fare both ways for places not connected by rail shall be reimbursed to registered student and escort teacher. Please note the expenses incurred for journeys undertaken for making arrangements for railway booking will not be reimbursed. Please retain all tickets and receipts in original as the same will have to be submitted for claiming travelling allowance. (v) D.A. for the journey time from their Headquarters to the site of the exhibit to midnight will be paid to the participants of JNNSMEE as per Council's rules. No. D.A. will be paid for the duration of the Exhibition. (vi) Conveyance for local Participants: Teachers and students will be reimbursed the conveyance charges as per the NCERT rate per head per day. The norms and guidelines given above must be strictly adhered. Please note that only one student and one teacher will be allowed per exhibit. Only one teacher will be permitted even if more than one exhibit from the same institution/school is selected for participation in JNNSMEE-2012. 39 TH JNNSMEE 2012 SOME POINTS FOR PROPER DISPLAY OF EXHIBIT 1. All exhibits should be neat and clean and in working order. 2. 100 cm x 50 cm 6 feet A banner of size 100 cm x 50 cm a sample of which is attached shall be provided to all participants by the Organisers for display on the wall behind the exhibit at about 6 feet height. Use white chart paper (half/quarter sheet) to explain the principle of the exhibit, circuit or any other diagram. This may be displayed on the demonstration table. 4 Display the title of the exhibit on a 30 cm x 12 cm size white chart paper near the exhibit on the demonstration table. Use black ink for writing on the chart paper. 6 The commentary for explaining the details or exhibit should not be extraordinarily long. Exercise economy in oral words. Use non-verbal communication material for this. A copy of brief write-up of the exhibit may also be provided to the visitors. 7 Use graphics such as graphs, bar diagrams, illustrations, posters etc., to convey detailed information of the exhibit. A copy of each may be kept in file for reference of the visitors. In order to avoid repeating the commentary often, an audio-cassette may also be used. Display the project report on quarter size paper sheets kept in a folder, if the exhibit is based on project work. Display photocopies of reference material, if any, related to the project. It is advisable to bring a few extra chart papers, pen, pencil, eraser, cello tape, double sided-tape etc. for last minute writing that you may need to do at the exhibition ground.
