The Episcopal School of Texas ESTABLISHED 1893 May 5, 2016 As we move into the summer months, I like to give our families forward notice of all the volleyball events on the horizon. Attached you will find the entire volleyball activities calendar for 2016, complete with schedules for all three teams (Freshmen, JV, and Varsity). Please look over them and check against your personal schedule to make sure there are no conflicts. The only potential change will be the addition of a varsity tournament, possibly two, but that info will be passed along as soon as I receive confirmation. On the Volleyball Master Calendar, you will also see TENTATIVE departure times for away matches, as well as practice times/off days. Unless otherwise specified, Practice and Off will apply to all teams. While these times and days will hopefully remain the same, there is always the potential for change. It is a good guide, however, and I hope it is useful. Below are a few points of emphasis for the upcoming months: For the summer activities, this year will look a little different than previous years. We will not be holding open gym sessions in June or July, but will instead offer our weekly volleyball clinics as the summer workouts. The Episcopal School of Texas ESTABLISHED 1893 In addition to the summer clinics, our strength and conditioning coach, Tony Marchiano has offered to give specialized vertical jump training in conjunction with these sessions. This will be very advantageous for your daughter and give her a great opportunity for volleyball specific strength training throughout the summer. In order to set up a workout time either before or after the volleyball clinics, or any other dates and/or times, and to get more information on the training, please contact Tony at t.marchiano@tmi-sa.org. We will also not be attending the Texas A&M Team Camp this summer as we have done in the past. In order to maximize our level of team competition, it is imperative that the girls work on their individual skills throughout the summer. I hope each family will find one, or more, of the above offerings compatible with their summer schedules. The final important date is the first day of official practices on August 3 rd. A complete schedule is listed on the master volleyball calendar and August 3 rd marks the first date of mandatory attendance for all prospective TMI volleyball players. If a player will not be in attendance for any portion of the pre-season activities, please be sure to communicate that to me prior to August 1 st.
