MINUTES BOARD OF EDUCATION Livonia Public Schools 15125 Farmington Road Regular Meeting September 19, 2016 President Burton convened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room, 15125 Farmington Road, Livonia. Members Present Members Absent Summer 2016 Bond Renovation Update Recognition of Lisa Abbey, Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Written Audience Bonifield, Burton, Centers, Jarvis, Johnson, Laura, Mrs. Stacy Jenkins, Administrator of s, presented an overview of the Summer 2016 Phase III bond renovations that took place at Grant, Hoover, and Randolph Elementary Schools; Johnson Upper Elementary School; Holmes Middle School; the completion of Franklin High School; and the initial renovations of the performing arts center at Stevenson High School. President Burton expressed the appreciation of the entire Board for Lisa Abbey s 13 plus years of dedicated service to Livonia Public Schools. She presented Lisa with a plaque, in recognition of her many talents, and wished her well in her new position. Superintendent Oquist also acknowledged and thanked Lisa for the many roles she held with the district and her commitment to LPS. Marilee Olsen addressed the Board to thank them for approving the pianos that were purchased for schools. Jody White addressed the Board regarding concerns she has about the district and Churchill High School. Response to Prior Audience Consent Agenda It was moved by Mrs. Bonifield and supported by Mrs. Laura that the Board of Education of the Livonia Public Schools School District approve the following consent agenda items, as

Paul Theriault, Plante Moran CRESA, presented the quarterly report for the 2013 bond. He gave a slide presentation and answered questions from Board members. It was moved by Mr. Centers and supported by Mrs. Jarvis that the approve the purchase of four replacement John Deere tractors from Bader and Sons, South Lyon, Michigan for a total cost of $192,334.36. Nays: Approval of Lease Agreement for Gymnastics Program Appointment of Director of Finance Move that the Board of Education of the Livonia Public Schools School District approve a lease agreement for the gymnastics program with the City of Livonia, effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017, for a total amount of $66,271.00. Ayes: Bonifield, Burton, Centers, Jarvis, Laura, Nays: Abstain: Johnson (chair of Livonia Parks & Recreation Commission) It was moved by Mr. Johnson and supported by Mr. Centers that the Board of Education of the Livonia Public Schools School District accept the recommendation of the Superintendent and employ Alison Smith for the position of Director of Finance beginning September 20, 2016.

Regular Meeting - 5-9/19/2016 Nays: Retirements It was moved by Mrs. Jarvis and supported by Mr. Centers that the adopt resolutions of appreciation for the services rendered by: Sharon Belcher will retire from the district on September 30, 2016, and will have devoted 37.3 years of dedicated, loyal, and outstanding service to the Livonia Public Schools as a keypunch operator and secretary with Data Management Services, Purchasing Department, Warehouse, and the IT Department. Veronica Blank retired from the district on August 10, 2016, and has devoted 13.5 years of dedicated, loyal, and outstanding service to Livonia Public Schools as a special education paraprofessional at Churchill High School and Western Wayne Skill Center. Phyllis Spoutz will retire from the district on November 1, 2016, and will have devoted 12.9 years of dedicated, loyal, and outstanding service to the Livonia Public Schools as a transportation paraprofessional in the Transportation Department. Nays: Approval of Contract - LEA It was moved by Mr. Johnson and supported by Mrs. Jarvis that the Board of Education enter into a one-year contract with the Livonia Education Association, whose agreement has been ratified by LEA members.
