Message from the President Greetings Chamber Members, Spring is beginning to take hold and the weather is slowly but surely warming up. Hopefully that trend will continue over the next few weeks and we ll have glorious weather for the Bike Brookfield event and the Chamber of Commerce annual Street Dance, both of which will be taking place on Saturday May 21 st. The Street dance is always one of the most well attended and talked about chamber events, and we want to be sure that the folks who come out to enjoy the event have everything they need to do so. In order to make the event great, we ll need plenty of volunteers to fill various roles. Volunteers are encouraged to wear chamber badges and logo shirts to promote their individual business at the event. The Street Dance will run from 5 11 and we need volunteers for the following. We d like to have three volunteers for the welcome tent for each of three two hour shifts, for nine total volunteers. The welcome tent is a great spot for you to talk to all of the attendees as they arrive at the event. You ll be checking ID s and giving out wristbands, so it s a great opportunity to break the ice and interact. We ll also need two volunteers for two shifts of two hours each to sell split the pot tickets. This is another good way to get your business name and logo in front of a crowd and let them know your part of the chamber. The chamber will be serving all beer and soft drinks at the event, so we re going to need a lot of volunteers to pour and sell beer and sell various soft drinks. There are about twenty five shifts that need to be filled, so we ll need a lot of volunteer beverage servers. This is something almost anyone can have fun with for a couple of hours and again, provides a great opportunity to meet a lot of new people. There are also a few jobs that are less glamourous but every bit as important, and that is the management of garbage throughout the event by making sure the trash cans and recycling containers are not overflowing, and if you re a late night kind of person, we could use your help with cleanup after the event. If you can spare some time to help at the Street Dance, please contact Amy Weinert at 708-712-9309 or by email at weinerta@fnbb.com. Thanks in advance for your support. Please join us in congratulating Ryan Swift and wish him the best of luck in his future academic and professional endeavors! Brookfield Chamber of Commerce looks forward to offering one $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior of LTHS later in May. Congratulations Ryan! On behalf of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce we would like to congratulate you on winning our 2016 Riverside-Brookfield High School Scholarship. I believe our scholarship standards were quite high, yet you more than exceeded our standards with your great academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and community service. In addition to the $1,000 check, I d also like to invite you and your family to attend our July 15th business after hours were we can recognize you in front of additional Chamber of Commerce members. Once again congratulations and best of luck in your future academic and professional endeavors! Sincerely, Phil Richard Director Dear Chamber members, Thank you so much for the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce Scholarship, I am really grateful for it. This scholarship helps bring down my tuition cost to a more reasonable price and will lower my student debt. Being the youngest of five, I have seen firsthand the stress of student debt and I am fortunate to have gotten this scholarship to relieve some of that stress. It will help me to focus on football and double majoring while at Wesleyan, rather than thinking about how I am going to afford college, and will therefore enhance my overall college experience. I am very thankful for this wonderful award I have received from your organization. Thanks Again, Ryan Swift
