LO1: Understand the purpose/requirements of the National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) The purpose of the NSTI is to promote awareness of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) educational and transportation career opportunities among middle and high school students and at risk youth throughout the country. 23 U.S. Code 140
LO1: Discuss the purpose/requirements of the National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) Overview of the process: Solicitation of Statement of Works (SOW) (coordinate with your Federal Highway Administration s Division Office Civil Rights Specialist & State DOT on due date(s)) Review SOWs eligibility (State DOT, FHWA Division Office, & HCR) Selection of host site should be competitive, but "competitive" does not necessarily mean "annual" Host sites are selected, announced and awarded
