Philanthropy, the Spirit of Volunteerism, and the Spirit of Service We: Nourish Lives, Enable Independence, Care for Our Seniors The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the execution of the organization's programs, expansion plan, and the achievement of its mission. The Executive Director is responsible for developing and demonstrating a deep knowledge of Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis Counties current programs and operations and for meeting the organization s strategic and operational goals. Key responsibilities include: Excellence in operations Ensure the organization meets the financial, operational, communication and administrative goals established by the Board of Trustees. Manage the identification and recruitment of new volunteers and nonprofit clients in the two county service area in which MOWJEC operates. Effectively manage projects to completion and assess
project results and impact and follow up. Work with volunteers and experts to organize and create content for educational workshops. Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance with organization policies and applicable federal, state and local regulations. Partnering and communicating for success Actively engage and energize MOWJEC volunteers, partnering organizations, funders and Board members. Support a strong Board of Trustees; attend meetings and ensure stakeholders are kept fully informed about the organization's activities, performance, and financial condition Market and promote MOWJEC in both the nonprofit and volunteer communities and publicize the organization's activities and programs. Developing a sustainable funding model Partner with the Board of Trustees to create and implement fundraising strategies and tactics (donors, sponsorships, grants, events, etc.) to meet the financial goals of the organization. Cultivate various funding options, including grants, foundation support, corporate partnerships, and sponsorships in order to achieve a diverse and sustainable funding model for the organization.
Planning for the future: Collaborate with a broad set of stakeholders, partners, and volunteers to evaluate community and nonprofit partner trends/needs and required services. Work with community sponsors and donors to develop innovative sponsorships and/or new service offerings or alternative service models that meet the organization's mission and vision. Partner with the Board of Trustees in developing and implementing an expansion strategy to cover the Johnson and Ellis County service area. Create and maintain a strategic, multi year plan with respect to operational excellence, defining our services portfolio and sustainable funding and addressing a long term, scalable growth model. Candidate qualifications include: Robust five year experience in Nonprofit or Private Sector organization management and/or consulting. Proven fundraising capabilities. Self starter who can work both independently and as a team member. Ability to develop authentic relationships with people across all backgrounds and communication/work styles.
Strong relationship skills as demonstrated with nonprofit, business and community leaders Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to apply these skills across a range of relationships and environments. Ability to use technology such as robust financial/accounting software programs, email, social media to engage and strategically communicate with volunteers, donors, non profit partners, and other institutional entities. Strong financial acumen; ability to collaborate in creating a financial plan and budget, monitor financial progress against goals, and manage operational expenses. Ability to address multiple priorities with strong organizational and time management skills to balance a variety of detailed projects and contact points simultaneously. Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure all organizational functions (programs, marketing, fundraising) continually move forward. Strong program planning and evaluation, marketing and grant writing skills Bachelor's degree (Master Degree preferred).
