RCIA for Children is a ministry to prepare children ages seven (7) years and older who have not been baptized Catholic or those who are Catholic but have not received their First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Classes will begin in late September and will be on Sunday mornings from 10:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m. At baptism we are all welcomed into a community of believers; we become a part of the Body of Christ, the people of God. We are all responsible for passing our shared faith on to the children in our Parish. We are currently in need of four more catechists to help teach the classes. The Parish will provide the training and the materials. For more information, contact Tricia Greely 343-6657 ext. 3026 tgreely@staloysiusparish.com. September 1, 2013 6 22nd Sunday in OT

SUNDAY SCHOOL Sunday School is a ministry offered to our Pre-K and Kindergarten students in our parish. Sunday School will begin September 22 (note that this is a change in the start date) through Mother s Day during the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Sunday Masses. We need catechists to help teach Sunday school this year. We will provide the materials and training necessary to teach the classes. Our goal to have enough catechists teaching so that they are only responsible for teaching 4 to 5 times a year. For more information please contact Kristy Nikolaus at knikolaus@gmail.com or Tricia Greely at tgreely@staloysiusparish.com or at 343-6657. Ministry Highlights Raffle Committee By: Michelle Bohan Raffle Ministry Goal: Organize and sell 350 raffle tickets for a $10,000 Cash Prize Raffle to be held on the last day of the Fair. This committee raises $35,000 in ticket sales and $14,950 is awarded in prize money. My Perspective: Sitting on the sidelines of a soccer game almost 4 years ago, I agreed to help out a friend by chairing the Raffle Committee. I am happy to serve as the Raffle Chair and here s why: Friends: Through my involvement in this ministry I have made friends in the St. Aloysius community. I have enjoyed developing friendships with other parishioners whom I may not have otherwise met. I ve developed friendships with raffle and fair volunteers, school and church staff and even ticket buyers! As a result, when I attend church and school functions, I feel a greater sense of belonging and appreciation for the opportunity to be involved in the important role of fundraising to support this community. Pray and Play is a ministry intended for children of all ages to play and their parents to socialize. The group meets every month at a different location, typically a local park or any other fun activity that the children and parents will enjoy. Each member of the group will have a chance to share ideas on meeting places, times and dates. The group is always looking for new and fun activities! The September event will be Friday, September 20, 9:30 a.m. at Leeward Park (in University Acres). If you are interested in joining the Pray and Play ministry, you may sign up online at www.aloysiusbr.org/ministrysignup.html, or contact Ashley Himpler at 955-2679 or by email: ashcole2622@yahoo.com. Faith: Fr. Than often reminds us that we can demonstrate our faith and our Christianity by offering our talents in service of others and the Church. Although I can t draw a straight line (I have little artistic talent!), I am comfortable organizing details and working with people. Serving on the Raffle Committee allows me (and you) to contribute to the overall goal of the Parish to help to build the kingdom of God. Fun: For me, it s fun to meet people, make new friends and feel good about the project on which I am working. And, it s especially fun at the fair when we pull all 350 tickets one by one! I need many volunteers to help sell tickets after a few Masses and during the Fair or to prepare the required reports. Please consider joining our committee. We ll have fun working together! If you would like to serve as Raffle Co-Chair or as a Raffle Volunteer, contact Michelle Bohan at Michelle@lhdesign.net. And, don t forget to buy your Raffle Ticket when they go on sale. Only 350 tickets sold! September 1, 2013 7 22nd Sunday in OT
