The Meeting President Chip Knoop asked Jim Ayers to offer the Invocation and lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Tom Westfall asked Steve Sandbo to introduce his guest Josh Green. There were no visiting Rotarians today. Next week s meeting will be at Scioto Country Club. Chip noted that the current invoices which have been distributed are for Fundraiser-related activities and items. Checks/payments should be payable to UA Rotary not the UA Rotary Foundation. Proposed changes to club Bylaws have been distributed to all club members. The changes are needed to synchronize the Bylaws with changes to the Rotary International constitution which were made recently. A voice vote on the proposed club Bylaw changes will be taken at the meeting. President Knoop encouraged all members to review the proposed changes. Nine club members are headed to Atlanta for the Rotary International convention. Eric Smith was recognized for attaining Paul Harris Plus 7 Fellowship. Congratulations and thank you, Eric. Alan Yarletts was recognized as Rotarian of the Year for his leadership and commitment to the Rotary Interact program in the Upper Arlington school system. The UAHS Interact club currently has 40 members and the middle school programs have a total of 30 members. The Rotarian of the Year award has been presented only 19 times in the history of the club. Congratulations, Alan! ROTARYVIEW PG 3
Notes and Announcements The $30 discount price for the new UA history book is available until June 30. You can go online to order. Be sure to note that you are a UA Rotarian. Order forms will also be available at club meetings on and 27. Price Finley encouraged contributions to the Rotary Foundation before the end of the Rotary year on June 30. A laptop for online contributions was available at today s meeting. He noted that contributions to the Rotary Foundation are different from contributions to the Upper Arlington Rotary Foundation. Steve Sandbo announced that there are a few openings for the Night of Zacapa event at his home on June 22. Newer members were encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get to know fellow club members in a relaxed social atmosphere. Let Steve know if you re interested. Steve also reminded us of the November 5 thru 10 trip to Guatemala to dedicate new facilities and look into various Rotary projects. Eleven people are scheduled to attend so far. If you are interested in participating let Steve know in the next couple of weeks. Dave Dewey reported that 80 members have replied to the committee signup campaign so far. Forms were available at the meeting and have been distributed twice via email. Please submit your form by June 23 or let Dave know your choices directly. Dave also said we need 6 10 people to participate in the club s Fourth of July fire truck parade entry. ROTARYVIEW PG 4
