GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Choice of research topic Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions follow the bottom up principle, you are free to chose the research/transfer of knowledge topic. Proposals will be evaluated in 8 scientific panels. Always keep the specific aim of the Fellowship in mind contribution of the fellowship to the career development of the most promising researchers Beneficial to show the relevance of the research field for the European Research Area

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Participants Beneficiary signatories to the grant agreement with REA, always the host organisation in EU-MS/AC Partner organisation non-signatory to the grant agreement. Host in the third country for Global Fellowships (e.g. US) or secondment host in Europe. Partner organisations in a Third Country for GF should provide letter of commitment to be included in the project proposal. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Who applies? GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Mobility Geografical mobility: Fellows may not have lived/worked in host country for more than 12 months within the last 3 years prior to the deadline for the proposal submission Mobility rule! GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Mobility Intersectoral mobility IFs allow for secondments within Europe, to gain inter-sectoral experience or to take advantage of expertise at other hosts from the same sector. Living- and extra expenses due to mobility and family status of Fellows Contribution to project costs (research-, training-, networking costs) Contribution to Management- und Overheadcosts Contribution of fixed amounts in the form of unit costs. EUROPEAN FELLOWSHIPS Career Restart (CAR) Researchers may not have been active in research for at least 12 months immediately prior to the deadline Reintegration (RI) For researchers with EU-MS/AC nationality that move or have moved from a TC (e.g. US) directly to the EU-MS/AC where the host is located Nationals of Third Countries are eligible, when they have previously spent a period of full-time research activity in a EU-MS/AC of at least 5 consecutive years Society and Enterprise (SE) The beneficiary must be an entity from the non-academic sector Proposals are evaluated in separate, multidisciplinary panels Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft Sensengasse 1 1090 Wien www.ffg.at 18

GLOBAL FELLOWSHIPS Requirements Experienced researchers (ER) from EU-MS/AC can do their projects for the duration of 12-24 months at a partner organisation in a third country Return phase in EU-MS/AC of 12 months is mandatory Agreements are signed between REA and the return host in the EU-MS/AC ER is employed by the host in the EU-MS/AC and seconded to the partner organisation in the third country Nationals of Third Countries are eligible, if they have spent a period of full-time research activity in an EU-MS/AC of at least 5 consecutive years Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft Sensengasse 1 1090 Wien www.ffg.at 20

SUBMISSION Some hints for SUCCESSFUL SUBMISSION Each participating organisation needs a PIC Participant Identification Code Ask your IF host organisation for it Use the current Guide for Applicants Download Part B template from the Participant Portal Play on the safe side submit early, submit often it is technically possible; latest submitted version will be evaluated. Uploading the proposal (without clicking submit ) in the last moment invalidated the previous version as the system replaces the old version. SUBMISSION IS OVER on 14th of SEPTEMBER 2017, 17:00:00 CET

RISE IMPLEMENTATION MODALITIES Consortium: At least 3 independent participants in 3 different countries and at least 2 of them from 2 different EU- MS/AC. If all in MS/AC: at least 1 academic and 1 non-academic Modes: International staff exchanges between MS/AC and TC institutions (e.g. US) Intra-European staff exchanges between MS/AC academic institutions and MS/AC non-academic institutions Possible to combine the two modes! RISE COUNTRIES ELIGIBLE FOR EU FUNDING In practise, this means that - staff seconded from EU-MS/AC to US will be funded - staff seconded from US to EU-MS/AC will NOT be funded Partnership Agreement (a.o. to define the distribution of the funding budget, also to TC Partner Organisations) In very exceptional cases, partners from Third Countries might be funded if a) This partner has competences/expertise that no organisation in MS/AC has b) The transfer of knowledge can only be done via a secondment TC MS/AC c) Points a) and b) must be endorsed by the expert evaluators d) The experts' endorsement (point c) must be confirmed by the REA Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft Sensengasse 1 1090 Wien www.ffg.at 39
