It was an up-gradation of Ravenshaw College established in 1868, one of the oldest and largest colleges in India which subsequently became an autonomous college with CPE status by UGC and A grade by NAAC. The College with all its glorious academic achievements and ceaseless scholarly pursuits had already created a distinct niche for itself in India and beyond. The college was originally was affiliated to Calcutta University and thereafter to Patna University in 1917 and was finally affiliated to Utkal University in 1943. Utkal University began functioning from this campus till it was shifted to its present site at Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. Post-graduate teaching started in 1922 with the opening of M.A. English class. Considering its great heritage, the Institution has been awarded National Honour by the Government of India through the issue of a commemorative stamp in 1978. The library which was named after the Raja Sahib of Kanika is the largest in Odisha. Not only is this Institution an epitome of learning but also a piece of unique Victorian architecture in the country. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT Higher education in commerce was first introduced in Ravenshaw College, in 1957. As Cuttack was the centre of all business activities, commerce education became more popular in this part of the country. Presently the department imparting Ph. D., M. Phil., Master Degree and UG Classes in Commerce and Management successfully. The department is well known for its high standard of teaching and research in commerce and management education.
OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINAR The objective of the seminar is to provide a platform for interaction on issues relating to Emerging trends in Insurance Practices in the stiff competitions and adherence to transparency aspects, besides providing valuable inputs for research. It will incorporate panel discussions by eminent persons in the respective fields, which will provide a good platform for interaction among academicians, research scholars, industry stalwarts and professionals from various universities. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF RESEARCH PAPERS The soft copy of the research paper/article (all reference should be in APA style only) in Microsoft Word should reach the Organizing Secretary on the email (hodcommerceru@gmail.com) latest by 10 th November, 2015 and the authors of the selected papers shall be intimated in due course by e-mail only. The acceptance of paper implies that at least one of the authors will attend the conference and present the paper. Paper must include a clear indication of the purpose of research, methodology, major results, implications and key references. The author(s) should clearly mention their affiliation as to which institution he/she belongs to along with designation. Only the papers selected through double blind review shall be published in the seminar book. SEMINAR PROCEEDINGS IN BOOK FORM Seminar proceedings will be published in the form of a book with ISBN Number. The initial screening of the papers for publication would be based on their relevance, originality and clarity. The manuscripts that pass the initial screening will follow a double 3
blind review. Selected research papers received with requisite fees will be considered for publication in the form of a book. Papers received after 15 th November, 2015 will be considered only for presentation provided the same is accompanied by the Registration Fee of the Seminar.
