4-H Council Leadership Team Meeting: Jr. Council Meeting - Dec. 1st Sr. Council Meeting - Dec. 2nd Both meetings will be held at the Extension Office at 6:30 p.m. RSVP Necessary!!! THERE ARE STILL SOME THAT HAVE NOT PAID FOR THEIR SHIRTS & BADGES. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS IMMEDIATELY!!!! This month is the Any Baby Can Fundraiser. We are responsible for decorating the Ag Barn, providing the food, & assisting at the party & with clean up. At this months meeting, we will be making decorations & signing up for decorating times. We will also be providing the entertainment of Christmas music from 7-8 p.m. If you would like to sing, play an instrument or both, please call the extension office to sign up. This is a VERY important Community Service project for council. We hope that everyone will be able to help out & support the event. 2010 District Photography Contest Registration for the District Photography Contest will be held on 4-H Connect from March 1-15, 2010. Cost for registration will be $5.00 per person. Late registration will be open March 16-17 with an additional fee of $5.00. BB Gun The BB Gun Project practices for December are: Wednesday s the 2nd & 9th. 5:30 P.M., Exhibit Hall (Agbarn) There will also be a practice during the Brisket cook on Saturday, Dec. 5th from 1-3 p.m. The 9th will be the last practice before the Winter Break. Exotic Wildlife Association Youth Hunt January 29-31, 2010 Place: Whitetail Junction Ranch Only 8 youth (3rd-12th grade) will be selected. Each 4-H youth interested in participating must complete an essay. This years essay topic will be: How hunting can ensure the survival of endangered species. Each essay needs to be at least 250 words. Some of the winning essays will be featured in the EWA magazine. Resources for essays are: EWA website: www.exoticwildlifeassociation.com and click on the Death Warrant on Exotic Species for reference materials and to understand more of what this industry is facing should we loose our right to hunt certain species. Essays will be judged and selected by an EWA committee. The deadline for entering is December 31, 2009. PLEASE DO NOT DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS TO THE EWA OFFICE OR TO THE RANCH WHERE WE WILL HUNT.....ALL QUESTIONS SHOULD COME THROUGH THE EXTENSION OFFICE TO LAURINDA. 830-257-6568 or LBoyd@ag.tamu.edu Each 4-H member may enter up to 4 photos. Photos DO NOT have to be in different categories (i.e. 4-H er may enter 4 color landscape photos.) There is also a District Category called Creative Display. This category allows 4-h ers to show their creativity with photos in a scrapbook layout. In addition to the 4 photos, a 4-H member may enter one item in the Creative Display category. If a 4-H er submits more than 4 photos, it will be up to the committee s discretion as to which 4 photos will be judged. All photographs will be due to the Kerr County Extension Office no later than Wednesday, March 10th. Fashion Story Board Do you like Fashion? Do you want to learn more about being a designer? Come try a new project called Fashion Story Board, where you can learn about the elements and principles of design. We will be cooking the briskets that were sold in this years Annual Fundraiser on Saturday, December 5th. You will be responsible for making sure that the briskets you sold are picked up. We will be here at the Extension Office from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th to hand them out. Otherwise, you will be responsible for delivering those that are not picked up. The Soil & Crop Sciences Department at Texas A&M University has announced scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors interested in the majors of Agronomy or Plant & Environmental Sciences.
