The arcraft was over parts of east, central, and west Chna for 5 hours and 55 mnutes. (The fgure shows the route flown. ) Although the U 2 was contnuously tracked whle over the manland, no ar defense weapons reactons to the arcraft were noted n Comnt. BACKGROUND Msson C015C, planned aganst the atomc energy faclty at Lan Chou, was flown on the nght of 8 anuary 1965. COMOR confrmed Lan Chou as a requrement for coverage The 303 Commttee approved the use of the on 12 November (303 Commttee notes of 13 November 1964), and approved the anuary forecast of monthly ar actvtes 9939, whch specfcally ncluded of Lan Chou) on 7 anuary 1965 (303 Commttee notes of 8 anuary 1965). The plot reported CAT (clear) weather n the target area. The flght was over dened terrtory 5 hours and 55 mnutes and dd not encounter any sgnfcant reactons.
