5.0 OPERATIONS 5.1 Artificial Noisemakers All forms of artificial noisemakers are prohibited in Murdock Stadium. In-stadium sound systems, public address announcements, and any music are prohibited when the ball is live or being made ready for play. 5.2 Automatic Bid & Format The bracket for the champion shall be single-elimination in format and will be determined by the California Pacific Conference commissioner. The top six teams in the final regular season standings shall qualify for the tournament. If the league receives two automatic bids, the first shall go to the regular season champion or #1 seed. The second bid shall go to the tournament winner. If the regular season champion/#1 seed wins the tournament, the second bid shall go to the other finalist. 5.3 Awards & Awards Banquet All-Conference awards will be announced and presented to participating student-athletes at an awards banquet on the evening prior to the first tournament contest. All-Conference, Player of the Year, Defender/Offensive of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year shall be honored. The event will take place at the Torrance Marriott, 3635 Fashion Way, Torrance, CA 90503. Self-parking is $23 and valet parking is $25. This venue is across the street from the host hotel and free additional parking is within walking distance to the Torrance Marriott. This event will take place Wednesday November 7, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. Teams will have assigned seating for up to 30 members of the official travel party. (Note: this event is not open to families or fans.) All teams are invited to the event, and all semifinalists are required to attend. First-round teams which do not advance are encouraged to attend. All first-round participants shall indicate their intentions regarding banquet attendance during the Monday pre-championship video conference. 5.4 Balls The official game ball for the championship is the Select Super Brilliant. The host institution shall supply the game balls, along with sufficient ball retrievers for each contest to manage a 5- ball system. 5.5 Banners & Signs Only approved banners and signage may be displayed in the arena. The tournament manager is authorized to approve, limit, or restrict any team signage regarding appearance and content. No commercial identification may appear on any non-tournament signage. 5.6 Bench Assignments The team with the better seed shall be the home team and shall occupy the bench to the right (south side) when facing the main grandstand. 6
The team with the lower seed shall be the visiting team and occupy the bench to the left (or north side) when facing the main grandstand. 5.7 Cancellation of Tournament If the tournament is not completed, the NAIA automatic bid will be awarded to the highest remaining non-#1 seed still active in the event. If the event is not played at all, the second automatic bid will be awarded to the #2 seed. 5.8 Champions of Character Each team shall name a team Champion of Character recipient who will be honored at the awards reception. The deadline for submission is November 4. A Champions of Character announcement will be read prior to each contest. 5.9 Champions of Character Project The host institution shall arrange for a Champions of Character service project to take place on the Friday between tournament contests. All institutions shall make all reasonable effort to support and attend the event, with the advancing and/or host institution required to participate. 5.10 Coaches Conference Call A conference call will be held on Monday, November 5, at 1:00 p.m. PST, to review tournament procedures, rules and policies. Participation is mandatory for the head coach and a designated administrator of each participating institution. 5.11 Credentials Non-transferable credentials are required for team personnel to access the stadium. Any unauthorized use or redistribution shall result in confiscation and immediate dismissal from the tournament. Credentials shall be issued as follows: TEAM - Valid for admission and access to team areas, practice and playing fields. Coaches, managers, student-athletes, and trainers receiving TEAM credentials shall be listed on the Official Travel Party form. A maximum of 30 TEAM credentials shall be provided. All players must display the credential for access to the stadium. STAFF - Valid for admission and access to required work areas for the Marymount California athletics staff and assigned workers. ALL ACCESS - Valid for access to all tournament facilities at any time. Provided to game management staff, tournament personnel, conference officials, and limited team representatives. 5.12 Drug Testing Consent Participating institutions shall assure that each student-athlete has signed a valid NAIA drug testing consent form prior to the beginning of tournament play. Institutions must verify compliance prior to competition. 7
5.13 Game Times & Pairings Game times for the first round and semifinals shall be 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The team with the better seed shall play the first contest each day. The second match shall start at the designated time, or 30 minutes after the completion of the previous contest, whichever is later. The championship match shall start at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. If La Sierra and/or Pacific Union advance to the championship contest, the match shall start at 7:30 p.m. 5.14 Games Committee The Games Committee shall consist of a Cal Pac Conference representative, the tournament manager, and the conference officials supervisor or the referee crew chief (if the supervisor is not available). The commissioner may serve on this committee in absentia. 5.15 Home Team Designation The team with the better seed shall be the home team in all contests and shall wear lightcolored uniforms. 5.16 Hospitality Hospitality refreshments will be supplied in the VIP area of the press box for sports information and athletic directors. 5.17 Hotel, Headquarters - Torrance Hotel The tournament headquarters hotel is the Residence Inn located at 3701 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, Calif., 90503. Visiting teams are required to use this hotel for their tournament accommodations, and must make their reservations at the immediately upon qualifying for the championship. 5.18 Laundry Teams are responsible for their own laundry arrangements. 5.19 Locker & Team Rooms The locker room is located on the south side of the stadium. The home team will have access to the locker room to the south side and the visitors will use the locker room to the north. Teams should come to the field dressed and ready to play in case preceding games are not concluded. Once a contest is concluded, teams shall immediately vacate the locker room. The next team shall not occupy the locker room until the team from the previous game has vacated. Teams will have a maximum of 15 minutes following their contest to vacate the locker room. 5.20 Media & Sports Information The media work room is in the press box level of the stadium. 8
Each institution s SID shall provide appropriate and updated photos and biographical information to the championship host SID for use in stadium and in-game notes. The institution shall also provide a correct and updated roster of the student-athletes, complete with pronunciation guide. 5.21 Medical & Training Procedures The athletic training facility is located at MCU s main campus, at 30800 Palos Verdes Dr. E., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Teams will not have access to El Camino College s training facilities. Training services will be available at the MCU campus by appointment for services not available at the tournament site. On-site services will include portable EMS, TENS, ice, tape, and wound care. No moist hear or ultrasound is available at the stadium. Emergency supplies, AED, splints, crutches, and water available at practices and contests. All visiting institutions trainers must contact the MCU training staff in advance if the school will not travel a Certified Athletic Trainer to the event. If an institution s student-athletes will need or treatment, the CAT must email a detailed list to Cathy Clarke at cclarke@marymountcalifornia.edu in advance of the tournament. Institutions may not sell their own products during the tournament in the stadium or on the stadium grounds. 5.23 Meeting, Mandatory: Coach / Administrator A video conference shall take place on the Monday prior to the tournament. The head coach and an athletics administrator are required to be on the conference. 5.24 National Anthem The national anthem shall be played or performed prior to the first contest of each day of the tournament. Additional performances may be added as determined by the tournament host. 5.25 Officials Championship officials shall be arranged by the host institution and assigned by the regional NISOA assignor. A four-man crew shall be used for championship contests (R, AR1, AR2, 4 th ). 9
5.26 Parking Team Vehicles and other officials shall park in Lot H, the closest parking lot to the soccer field. Other vehicles can also Park in Lot H but will have to pay a $3 fee. Lot H is located on Redondo Beach Blvd and Stadium Way. (See map, page 5.) 5.27 Participant Lists Per NAIA postseason policy, teams shall be limited to a maximum of 24 players in uniform plus a maximum of 6 coaches/bench personnel. A maximum of two (2) Certified Athletic Trainer(s), a Sports information staff member, and the Director of Athletics may also be credentialed, but will not count against the 30-person team limit. The official participant list must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, to both the Cal Pac office and the host institution s tournament director. 5.28 Pass Lists There are no team pass lists for the tournament. Teams may purchase tickets for distribution. 5.29 Player Introductions The starters for both teams shall be introduced in numerical order. Both teams shall follow the game officials onto the field and face the crowd on opposite sides of the midfield line, in front of their respective benches. The visiting team shall be introduced first. Players shall then shake hands and return to their bench area. 5.30 Post-Game Procedures Teams in the first contest shall immediately clear the playing surface and bench area to provide access for the next contest. Following the championship match, both teams shall remain on the field for the brief awards presentation. 5.31 Practice Times Teams shall have a maximum of one (1) hour practice time on the tournament surface on the day prior to their competition. Game-day warm-up shall take place on the auxiliary field. Teams shall share the auxiliary field for pre-game warmup, with each team using one half, divided by the center line. Field will be available for warmup 60 minutes prior to the scheduled start of Game 3 Practice Schedule - Day Prior to Championship Match 8:30 a.m. Better Seed 9:30 a.m. Poorer Seed Practice Schedule - Championship Game Day The competition field will be available for team warmup 60 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the championship match. 5.32 Sportsmanship Statement This announcement shall be read prior to the start of each contest: The California Pacific Conference is an NAIA 5-star Conference of Character. We request your cooperation by supporting all participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, any derogatory remarks or negative actions directed at studentathletes, officials, coaches, or team representatives will not be tolerated and shall result in removal from the site of competition. As NAIA leaders, the Cal Pac believes in the core values of Champions of Character: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant-Leadership. Cal Pac: Greater Things! 5.33 Tickets Single match tickets are $10 adults / $5 children (under 12) and participating students with a valid college ID. The All-Session Pass is $20. 5.34 Tobacco No tobacco products of any kind are permitted at the tournament. Smoking, vaping, or electronic cigarettes are prohibited. 5.35 Travel Party & Participant List Teams shall have a maximum travel party of 30 individuals, made up of no more than 24 players, and six (6) coaches/bench personnel. No substitutions in the category maximums is allowed. In addition, a maximum of two (2) certified athletic trainers, one (1) sports information staff member, and one (1) athletics director (or designate) may receive additional credentials. Only these individuals shall have sideline access. Each institution must submit the official participant list (Appendix 1, or on the conference website) to the Cal Pac commissioner (dott@calpacathletics.com) by the Monday prior to the tournament (November 4, 2018). A fillable form will be sent to each participating institution s AD & Head Coach via email. 11
5.36 Uniforms The home team shall wear LIGHT uniforms. The visiting team shall wear a contrasting DARK uniform. 5.37 Videotaping The championship host will videotape the game, as well as provide livestreaming of the competition. If teams wish to make their own video, teams may only videotape games in which they participate. Teams must supply all their own equipment, including power supply, cables, and extension cords. The 5.38 Web-Streaming All games will be streamed live on Stretch Internet with access through both the Cal Pac and MCU websites. Teams may not produce their own version of the contests for distribution. 12
