March 7, 2019, from 5:30 pm -7:30 pm in the Father Hillary Meny Gymnasium at Shawe Memorial High School. All students will be able to help create a STEM Mural. Competing Interdisciplinary team members were Izzy Lewis (Social Studies), Trey Suggett (Science), Lung Ng (Math) and captain Walt Stanley (English & Fine Arts). Next competition is March 11 at Jac-Cen-Del Jr/Sr High School.

It s scholarship season for seniors! Seniors should be checking the list of available scholarships shared with seniors and their parents on the Google drive. Sophomores: Reminder that Grace Rose Stem Memorial Scholarship applications are due to Mrs. Miller next week--march 5th. Applications are available outside Mrs. Miller s office. This scholarship through Friends of Shawe and Pope John Schools is estimated to be in the amount of $1,500 toward Shawe tuition for the 2019-2020 school year.

Thank you to Marta Belt, Communications Instructor with Ivy Tech Community College, for her presentation yesterday with the senior class. Topics included the importance of first impressions, proper attire, cell phone etiquette and tips on how to prepare for an interview. Students should be able to apply what they learned to job or internship interviews, scholarship interviews, and other life situations. Thank you, Mrs. Belt! Parents of 8th Grade Students: Reminder that 9th Grade Orientation is Tuesday, March 5th @ 6:30 PM.

The 8th-grade class participated in a Mock College Admissions activity this week with guest speaker, Karen Heavin, from the National Center for College Costs. Students learned about the many factors

considered with college admission decisions including GPA, SAT/ACT scores, course rigor, essays, letters of recommendation, extra-curricular activities, and interviews. Thank you to the Community Foundation of Madison & Jefferson Co. and the Arvin Sango Foundation for funding this program. Need help with Math or Science homework?
