RLMI General Meeting 18 October 2017 " Fuhrer, Folk and Fatherland, A Soldier's Story" Douglas Gagel spoke about his book, a true story, " Fuhrer, Folk and Fatherland, A Soldier's Story". The book is the story of his father's experiences as a German Soldier in WWII, a first-hand account of experiences during the Third Reich. The book details the experiences of the author's father, Albin Gagel, who grew up in rural Bavaria and was drafted for what turned out to be six years of enforced service in Hitler's Wehrmacht. It is a very personal story and also a love story amid the strife and devastation of war. 6
