Workshop Agenda The ERASMUS+ EDUPALL project Look at the proposed teaching plan (menu) Give some examples how to use it Questions to be answered: Why to speak about spiritual needs (and recourses)? How to speak about spiritual care? How to address spirituality in patients and their relatives?

Summary: the UN and WHO state that providing access to palliative care is an ethical responsibility of health care systems, and that it is the ethical duty of health care professionals to alleviate pain and suffering, whether physical, psychosocial or spiritual. The WHO defines palliative care as a process involving early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual. Therefore, all healthcare professionals must be prepared in meeting the spiritual needs of patients, as spiritual needs are common in patients with life-threatening disease.

EDUPALL Learning Outcome Recognising the spirituality as a resource and need in self-care and care provision, understanding the importance of accessing and supporting patients and families spiritual needs, integrating patients and families spiritual, existential and religious needs in the care plan, and respecting their no if they do not wish to discuss this aspect of their lives.
