IAȘI COUNTY Iasi County is the eastern border of the EU, neighboring the Republic of Moldova. The main industries are IT, software & electronics, automotive, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, metallurgy & heavy-equipment manufacturing, constructions and textiles. Regional clusters are in place in Iasi to develop the potential of the IT&C and bio-medicine industries. This area ensures interoperabilitybetween the Russian railway track gauge and the European railwaysystem. 15 km from Letcani Industrial Park (18,6 ha) there is one of the largest and growing airports in Romania, currently operating national and international flights on a daily/weekly basis. For the 2nd stage of the modernization of Iasi International Airport, consisting of a Cargo terminal of 3.000 m2, the county needs an estimated investment of around 10m EUR to finalize the project before deadline in 2030. Moreover, the local administration is committed to develop, before 2020, a Regional Intermodal Freight Transport Centre.
