Government of Sierra Leone MicroSave worked with Government of Sierra Leone to assess the meat and milk valuechains in the country as part of its larger strategy of developing the agriculture sector through high potential interventions. The study was conducted in Koinadugu district. MicroSave performed a detailed analysis, observing and mapping the value chains, as well as conducting stakeholder interviews and discussions to understand challenges, gaps, strengths and weaknesses in meat and dairy sector. This was supplemented by secondary data. We developed strategies, interventions and a pilot plan based on the findings of the assessment; and recommended appropriate modifications to the value-chains. The interventions are already helping to enhance the value capture by small-scale producers and creating employment for women and youth in the sub sectors studied. Water.org MicroSave conducted a comprehensive market assessment to understand the state of the water & sanitation (watsan) sector in the south-central part of India and assess the intent and capacity of the financial institutions operating in the region to undertake financing of watsan infrastructure. The study included both secondary research into the sector, and extensive qualitative market research to understand demand and supply side issues. The report is being used to guide Water.org s expansion of its Water Credit programme in the region and help identify suitable financial institutions as partners. The report also specifies the key product design issues that any financial institution needs to consider prior to designing products focussed on watsan related financing. MicroSave is now working with Water.org to develop a comprehensive toolkit on the design, testing and rollout of products to finance watsan interventions.
