Flotilla 26-01 We are having a BS&S class to start on the 22nd of May in St. Ignace. We have approx. 20 students signed up. We are working on other classes in the Cheboygan Area in early June. We are assisting the Division with the Boat Days by supplying instructors and facilities for the weekend. We are also looking to bring members by car pooling for the weekend. We will have a better idea after our next meeting. Our FSO-RBS is compiling a list of businesses to deliver brochures to so we can split them up to make sure everyone, who wants materials has them. Our FSO-PA has compiled a list of community organizations that we are going to through and hit with possible recruitment. We are interested in the Sea Scouts program and are going to be watching other Flotillas to get ideas and understanding of the program and how we can incorporate it in 26-01. Flotilla 091-26-01 is also looking to assist the Cutter Mackinaw with TCT Training to be offered this spring. The Flotilla is Ready for another Great Season! Respectfully, Don Warren FC 091-26-01 *********************************************************** Past Quarter: Charlevoix Flotilla 91-26-02 Division Report 12 May 2012 Glen Stolt, FC Presented by: Harold Severence, VFC One TCT refresher course was held one more will likely be required. We lost one member. We have one new member with paperwork in, 2 more close to doing the paperwork, one potential transfer. Getting close to flotilla goal for the year! We are participating again in Veterans Day Celebration May 9 th in Boyne City. This is an annual event and the CG will have the 25 on a trailer for display. Aux and the Station will be there. Charlevoix and Twin Bay flotilla along with Station Charlevoix had a booth at the Traverse City Boat Show. The organizer indicated the numbers were in line with expectations and Saturday was actually about 6% ahead of last year. Petoskey did not have a boat show this year due to lack of interest. We made significant presentation to the Boyne City Yacht Club and the Sommerset point yacht club. I cannot report how it went here since the written report is being sent one week prior to the presentation. 3 VSCs are completed so far. 1

Looking forward: Starting the season with an Aux picnic. Our plans for National Safe Boating Week. o Coordinate our Program Visits with NSBW the week prior and during NSBW. o We will have a booth in downtown Charlevoix on their Petunia Planting day May 24th. Expecting about 600-800 people to participate. One of the CG boats will be in the marina for viewing and a draw, possibly an aux vessel as well. June 1-3 is Boat School at the Charlevoix Station Preston Long will be in person giving more details at the Division Meeting. Sounds like a full weekend with plenty of excellent learning opportunities. Goal is to have at least one Aux boat on the water during the summer season. Our team needs to work out the logistics and details of that kind of support. Next meeting should report how things went. Upcoming festivals we will participate in are: o Charlevoix Venetian Festival fireworks o East Jordan Boat Show o TC Cherry Festival on water events o Possibility of a couple other area festivals depending on requests. Preston Long and I met with NCMC to discuss the University Program. The Dean is still interested in the program for next fall. I am staying in touch and should know more by the next meeting. This could be a huge opportunity for education and recruiting. ATON will be squeezed in on one or two of the patrols this summer. is conducting an event during Safe Boating Week in Charlevoix on Thursday, May 24, in conjunction with the Charlevoix community petunia planting event. Exposure to 500-600 people in the community. Promoting safe boating, wearing PFD's and recruiting potential Auxiliary members. Also, conducting presentations at each of two yacht clubs in the area to recruit potential members to the flotilla. May 8th and May 25th events. Closing: Looks like an exciting and busy season for Charlevoix. We are looking forward to a few new members that will definitely help with the work load. 2

************************************************************************************* Flotilla Commanders Report 26-03 MAY 2012 COASTIE TRAINING: We hosted a Coastie Training Day at the Gerrish Township Marina; in attendance were two active Coast Guard Personnel from Alpena, and Auxiiarist from Traverse City, Roscommon, St. Ignace, Charlevoix and Cedarville. IT was a great day. PUBLIC AFFAIRS: We had two members attend the Traverse City Boat Show. We will have a strong representation at the AuSable Canoe Races, we are also having an entry in the Houghton Lake Memorial Day Parade there was an article about two of our members and their work in the Auxiliary in the local newspaper, there was also a picture of the Coastie Training in another one of our papers. We have also made a presentation to the Local Lions Club and Merchants Association on our activities EDUCATION: Two of our members presented the new Vessel Exam Boot Camp Power Point presentation to Sheriff Marine Patrol Officers in St. Ignace. We presented a Boating Safety Class to the local Sea Scout Ship and have another one scheduled on May 19. VESSEL EXAMINATION: Our flotilla has made a strong start in the Vessel Exam program; we have completed over 50 VE s so far. We have started our Facility exams and have 2 completed and the rest should be completed shortly. We anticipate beginning patrols in May. AUX AIR Our Aux Air program is flying regularly and will participating in the fly-in in Traverse City and the Dawn Patrol fly-in at Houghton Lake in June. SEA SCOUTS Three of our members are working with a new Sea Scout Ship in our Area. We have held a boating safety class for them and will be working with them to help them earn their boating Safety Merit Badges. RECRUITMENT We have one new member who has just come out of AP Status and another person who has just started his new membership paperwork. Unfortunately we lost a member who cannot continue his activities due to health. Charles Feldman FC 26-03 3

Flotilla 26-04 First Qtr. Report 29 APR 2012 V/R 1. On 28 JAN 2012 flotilla held a Boating Safety Class at Standish, MI. 2. 4 new members have been recruited and are in the AP stage. All 4 have been issued ODU uniforms. 3. All Coxswain PPB s have been tested All good. 4. NO facilities have been launched at this time as water levels are low. 5. TCT class was held at The Maritime Heritage Center. Good attendance. 6. DCDR visited station to present awards made at Spring Conference. 7. Flotilla aviation dept. is back in the air from Charlie status. All crews qualified. 8. On 12 MAR 2012 three elementary school classes visited station and were given tour and a short class on SideKicks water safety. 9. Members are returning from wintering in the South, augmenting our crews. RUSS MARSHALL, IPDCDR/FC 26-04 Flotilla 26-05 Grand Marias Public Education, We have a retired marine safety officer and boat safety course instructor from the Michigan Dept. Natural Recourses that we hope to use as an education officer for the Auxiliary. He is willing to train our members and put on classes for the General Public. He is willing to go into the school systems and train school kids. He got qualified as crewmen and willing to go for coxswain. We have a kids fishing day coming up in June, put on by the U.S. Forest Service. We will have a present there and have hand-outs for the kids. Hopefully Coastie may be available for this. Recruitment, Our Membership Officer has been working on signing up a new recruit since August 2011. Painfully slow process, number one reason we have lost members and potential members. When you get them motivated to join it takes so long other options come along in their lives and they lose interest. Sabot, we sent several members to classes when it was offered in this area. Non-Traditional Support, one member whom just made crewmen last fall, belongs to another organization that has two years in a roll given us donations we plan to use for boat safety classes when we have a qualified instructor. Also the local sport fishing association has offered equipment assistance and funding also for boating safety classes. We also run weekly ads in local papers for interest and recruitment purposes. Also have a member that works at local radio station that gives us free advertising on anything we are doing such as vessel inspections. One of our new crewmen and vessel inspectors spends the winter in Florida and works with auxiliaries down there doing VE and getting on the water time and advanced training. Thanks, Laurie Jasmin, FC 4
