30.11.2018 PRESS STATEMENT PBAPP REWARDS PENANG S WATER-FRIENDLY ORGANISATIONS AND SCHOOLS RM14,000.00 for 10 organisations which renewed their Aqua Save certifications in 2018 RM16,250.00 for 19 Penang Green School finalists PENANG, Friday, 30.11.2018: Being water-friendly has paid off for 10 organisations and 19 schools. Their representatives received cash rewards and incentives totaling RM30,250.00 from Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP). These rewards and incentives were handed out by Penang Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow at the Green Pinang Awards Presentation Ceremony dinner at the Sunway Hotel, Seberang Jaya, last night. Also present were PBA Holdings Bhd and PBAPP Chief Executive Officer Dato Ir. Jaseni Maidinsa, and Penang Green Council (PGC) General Manager Ms. Thing Siew Shuen. The 10 water-efficient organisations which received special cash rewards are the second-time recipients of PBAPP s Aqua Save certification. These organisations received between RM500.00 and RM2000.00 for successfully renewing their Aqua Save certifications in 2018. The total amount of the rewards for organisations was RM14,000.00. Meanwhile, another 5 organisations also received their first-time Aqua Save certifications from YAB Tuan Chow: Eco Horizon Sdn Bhd, Honeywell Aerospace Avionics Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Jabatan Khidmat Kemasyarakatan MBPP and Eco Meadows Sdn Bhd. The Aqua Save programme is a PBAPP initiative to promote sustainable water conservation amongst business and non-business organisations in Penang. Under this programme, Aqua Save certifications (valid for 2 years) are given to organisations which have implemented efficient and effective water saving measures or technologies. Organisations which are able to renew their certifications for an additional 2 years are given special cash rewards. Aqua Save is being implemented in collaboration with the Penang State Government, through the Penang Green Council (PGC). 19 SCHOOLS ALSO RECEIVED RM16,500.00 IN INCENTIVES In 2018, PGC extended the scope of Aqua Save by incorporating its criteria as part of PGC s assessment process for its Penang Green School Award. This measure is aimed at encouraging schools and their students to save water, and thereby further promote a water-saving culture in Penang. In support of this move, PBAPP also provided cash incentives amounting to RM16,250.00 to the 19 schools which were named as the 2018 Penang Green School Award finalists.
