ABOUT THE COLLEGE SNS College of Engineering was established in the year 2007 with a vision of being in the forefront of Technical education and Management studies. The motto of our Institution is to impart quality education with an international exposure leading to knowledge and develop multiple skills among the students community. With a state-of-the-art infrastructure, highly skilled & dedicated faculty members and outstanding Placement & Training cell, SNSCE keenly concentrates on continual knowledge enrichment that moulds the students to achieve excellence in all their endeavors. The college is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, situated on Coimbatore Sathy highway at Kurumbapalayam and is about 10 Km from Coimbatore Airport. It offers six UG programme, six PG programme and research programmes. College Vision and Mission Vision SNS College of Engineering envisages its vision to provide quality education of international standards and impart knowledge & skills to the students, in the process to shine as one of the premier institutions in the country and worldwide. DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) has been playing a vital role in producing Electrical Engineering graduates with the acumen, competence & skills needed to enter, succeed & lead a professional career. The department offers UG (Regular) programme, PG programme (Applied Electronics, Power Electronics and Drives) and Research programmes. The department along with its highly qualified faculty members started functioning right from inception and engages actively in teaching and research in all current areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. State of the art computational and experimental facilities enable the department to undertake basic and applied research and to provide support to R&D organizations. Volume 2, Issue 2, May 2013 1

The students acquire interpersonal and communication skills from the EEE Association and promote their professional skills through societies like Institution of Engineers (India) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The students from the department emerge as sound Professionals serving the society through technology. Department Vision & Mission Vision To provide Quality Technical Education to the students, prepare them to foresee the challenges and to offer innovative solutions with confidence and courage as most competent Engineers, Pioneering Entrepreneurs, Able Managers and Inventive Researchers. Mission To endow the students with strong technical knowledge and skills to transform them as employable graduates To establish excellent facilities conductive for academia, research and industry incubation To shape the students as worthy citizens by imbibing moral values, social responsibilities and ethical practices. CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM A Career Development Program was arranged on 26 th February 2013. Dr. N. Karthikeyan, Professor& Head, Dept. of MCA of SNS College of Engineering was the speaker. III and IV year BE EEE students participated in the event. Dr. N.Karthikeyan outlined The importance of Career Development and wanted every student to get placed before leaving the institution. GUEST LECTURE IMPORTANT ON DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING A Guest lecture was held on 28 th February 2013. Dr. S. Poornachandra, Dean IQAC, ECE, SNS College of Engineering was the resource person gave the lecture for III year B.E.EEE students who introduced the DSP to the students and explained its importance. WORKSHOP WORKSHOP ON PLC Mr. M. Karuppuswamy proprietor of Deepak Electronics Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore conducted a workshop on PLC on 16 th February 2013 for III and IV year B.E. EEE students. Mr. M. Karuppuswamy highlighted various applications of PLC. Volume 2, Issue 2, May 2013 3

WORKSHOP ON ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES IN SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering & Department of Mechanical Engineering of SNS College of Engineering organized a AICTE sponsored one day workshop on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Solar Technologies in association with EDC of SNSCE. Renowned Industrialist of our state Mr. D. Devarajan, proprietor of M/S Sreedev Solar Solutions was the Chief Guest for the function. In the afternoon an industrial visit was arranged for the students at M/s. Sreedev Solar Solutions to gain practical knowledge of the operation and manufacturing technologies of solar cells. ATTENDED / PARTICIPATED IN FDP /SEMINAR/ WORKSHOP BY STAFF MEMBERS Mr.L.Anbarasu and Mr.Alex George attended seminar on Renewable Energy Technolgies at Kathir College of Engineering, Coimbatore. Mr.C.K.Gobu attended workshop on Hands on Training on MATLAB Programming and Its Applications in Electrical Engineering at Sri Krishna College Of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore on 24 th January 2013. Prof.M.Maheswari and Mr.C.K.Gobu attended Workshop on Emerging Trends in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at PPG Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on 8th February 2013.
