Filling up of online admission form will start from 29 May 2015 at 12 noon. Online admission will close on 15 June 2015 at 1 pm. 2. For online form fill up, please visit the college website : www.vidyamandira.ac.in or www.admissionvidyamandira.in 3. One may fill up any number of application forms following the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the admission norms. 4. Please read the instruction for online form fill up and follow accordingly. 5. Students must bring your admit card and copy of bank challan/online payment receipt (proof of your submission of fees) on the dates of the Admission Test, Viva Voce (if you are selected after written Test), Date of admission (if you are selected after the Viva) and on the day of admission to the hostel0. If any student fails to show these two documents mentioned above, his candidature will be rejected. 6. Sample questions can be downloaded from the college website www.vidyamandira.ac.in 7. Only regular candidates who have passed the higher secondary/equivalent examination in 2015 or 2014 will be eligible to apply. 8. Please note that if any candidate fails to fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in our admission notice, his candidature will automatically stand cancelled at any point of admission procedure. The college authority will not be responsible for any such cancellation. 9. The students who will be selected in the written test, must produce all relevant documents in original during the interview failing which their candidature will be cancelled. 10. Total marks (theoretical + practical) for lab-based subjects would be taken into account for the subject marks. I. III. DETAILS OF ADMISSION TEST: 1. ENGLISH HONOURS a) Full marks for the written test: 40 (1 hour 30 minutes) b) Selection will be done purely on the basis of marks obtained in the admission test. c) The admission test will have two parts : written examination (40 marks) and viva voce (10 marks). d) The written examination will be of 90 minutes duration. It will have two parts: MCQ (10 Multiple Choice Questions of 2 marks each = 20 marks) and Essay (20 marks). e) There will be negative marking in the MCQ round. The following marking pattern will be followed in the MCQ round: +2 for correct answers and -1 for wrong answers. f) The essays of only those candidates who obtain 10 or above in the MCQ round will be evaluated. g) Only those candidates who obtain 10 or above in essay will be called for viva voce. h) Final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the essay and viva voce. i) Total seats in the subject = 10 (approximately) 2) BENGALI HONOURS a) Full marks for the test: 50 (1 hours 30 mts) b) Candidates will be tested in simple Bengali composition essay writing, amplification and substance writing. c) There will be an interview of the candidates selected only on the basis of the written test. d) Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (50) + Viva Voce (10) = 60 marks. 3) SANSKRIT HONOURS a) Full marks for the test: 50 (1 hour 30 mts) b) Candidates will be tested in simple translation from Bengali/English to Sanskrit; basic Sanskrit grammar and common questions on Sanskrit literature. c) There will be an interview of the candidates selected only on the basis of the written test. d) Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (50) + Viva Voce (10) = 60 marks. 4) HISTORY HONOURS a) Full marks for the test: 20 (45 mts) b) Written Examination: i) Essay (400 words) [in English or Bengali]: 20 c) Candidates will be primarily selected on the basis of a total marks of 40 (written test 20 + marks secured in HS History reduced to (20) d) Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + marks secured in HS History reduced to (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 50 marks. 5) POLITICAL SCIENCE a) Full marks for the test: 20 (45 mts) b) Essay : 20 marks. It can be written in English / Bengali. c) Candidates will be finally selected after the viva voce to be held on the same day just after the written test. Viva voce marks 10. d) Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 30 marks. 6) PHILOSOPHY a) Full marks for the test: 20 (45 mts) b) Essay : 20 marks. It can be written in English / Bengali. c) Candidates will be finally selected after the viva voce to be held on the same day just after the written test. Viva voce marks 10. d) Final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Test (20) + Viva Voce (10) = 30 marks. Page 4 of 11

IV. SPECIAL NORMS FOR CERTAIN CATEGORIES: ii) (TO OBTAIN APPLICATION FORMS ONLY) i) The required qualifying marks for SC or ST are 10% less than that for General Candidates. Competent authorities to issue Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Certificate for admission to Colleges: (i) Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer, Executive Magistrate, Block Development Officer within their respective jurisdiction in case of candidates claiming to be SC/ST and ordinarily residing within such jurisdiction ; (ii) Member of Parliament, Member of State Legislature, Member of Zilla Parishad, Councillor of Municipal Corporation, Commissioner of Municipality within their respective jurisdiction in case of candidates claiming to be SC/ST and ordinarily residing within such jurisdiction. (Vide Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, Circular No. 2143-BCW / MR-154/03(1) Dated 23rd June 2004). iii) Reservation will be followed as per existing Government rules. V. ARRIVAL AT THE HOSTEL, START OF CLASSES ETC. a) All the admitted students should report to the hostel on 5 July 2015, Sunday, between 1 pm and 5 pm. b) Classes for students newly admitted to the 1st year degree course will begin on 6 July 2015 from 10.00 am. DETAILS OF ADMISSION TEST: PHYSICS HONS: a) Full marks for the written test : 50 (1 hour 30 mts) b) There will be 25 questions covering the whole of H.S [XI & XII] Course, and majority of these will be problem-oriented. Appreciable number of questions will be set from XI syllabus also. Each question will carry 2 marks. c) The final selection will be done on the basis of the marks secured by the student in the written test. An interview / counseling will be conducted for these students. d) Total seats in the subject = 26 (approximately) 2) CHEMISTRY HONS: a) Full marks for the written test : 50 (1 hour 30 mts) b) There shall be 25 MCQ type questions of 2 mark each covering the syllabus taught both in class XI and XII standards. There will be no negative marking. c) Candidates have to select the correct choice. d) A merit list will be prepared on this basis: 50 (admission test) + 25 (from aggregate) + 25 (from H.S. Chemistry marks) = 100. The students of this merit list will have to appear in a viva voce as mentioned below. The students who will remain absent in the viva will be summarily rejected. e) The final selection will be done after adding the viva voce marks (10) to the marks secured as per the details mentioned above. f) Total seats in the subject = 26 (approximately) 3) MATHEMATICS HONS: a) Full marks for the written test : 50 (1 hour 30 mts) b) There shall be 25 MCQ type questions covering the syllabus taught both in class XI and XII standards, each carrying 2 marks. For each wrong answer, -1 will be awarded. c) Candidates have to select the correct choice. d) A merit list will be prepared on the basis of: 50 (admission test) + 50 (reduced from H.S. Mathematics) = 100. The students of this merit list will have to appear in a viva voce as mentioned below. The students who will remain absent in the viva will be summarily rejected. e) The final selection will be done after adding the viva voce marks (25) to the marks secured as per the details mentioned above. f) Total seats in the subject = 15 (approximately) 4) MICROBIOLOGY HONS: a) Full marks for the written test: 50 (1 hour) b) There shall be two types of questions: (a) 50 MCQ each of 1 marks. These questions will cover the entire syllabus taught in class XII and some portions of class XI as mentioned herewith: Diversity in the Living World : Biological Page 8 of 11

Classification, Cell structure and function, Respiration, Photosynthesis, Digestion and Absorption, Body Fluid (Blood and Lymph). c) Negative Marking- at the rate of 0.5 for each wrong answer. d) Candidates have to select the correct choice. e) A preliminary merit list will be prepared on this basis: 50 (admission test) + 20 (reduced from H.S. Chemistry marks) + 20 (reduced from H.S. Biology) = 90. The students of this merit list will have to appear in a viva voce as mentioned below. The students who will remain absent in the viva will be summarily rejected. f) The final selection will be done after adding the viva voce marks (10) to the marks secured as per the details mentioned above. e) Total seats in the subject = 15 (approximately) 5) COMPUTER SCIENCE HONS: a) Full marks of the written test : 50 (1 hour) b) There shall be 25 MCQ questions of 2 marks each, covering Mathematics syllabus taught up to XII standard. Each wrong answer will result in (-1). Calculator is not allowed. Rough work should be done in the limited space provided. c) Candidates have to select the correct choice. d) There will be an interview of the candidates preliminarily selected only on the basis of the written test. The students of this merit list will have to appear in a viva voce as mentioned below. 7) ECONOMICS HONS: a) Full marks for the written test : 50 (1 hour 30 mts) b) Candidates will be tested in [Higher Secondary] Mathematics (30) and English (essay writing) (20) = 50 marks. c) A preliminary merit list will be prepared on this basis: 50 (admission test) + 50 (reduced from H.S. aggregate) = 100. The students of this merit list will have to appear in a viva voce as mentioned below.
