Incident Location Owning Location Incident Type Status Date/Time Description Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre Arthur Gorrie CC Major Disturbances - Violent Demonstration/Riot Under Investigation 20 Mar 17 4:13:00 PM On the 20MAR2017 at approximately 1613 hours a Code Yellow Alert was activated to Unit A1 over the centre radio network when Prisoners E54258 Kane SMITH DOB: 19/7/1994, E17143 Jesse PRICE DOB: 1/12/1995, D58109 Travis MANWARRING DOB: 3/1/1989 and C17810 Hugo DACOSTA were non-compliant, aggressive toward staff. On the arrival of responding staff, reasonable force was used to restrain all four prisoners. During the lockdown of the unit, Prisoners D72701 Wayne MARWICK DOB: 18/6/1993 and A68338 Rory UTRATNY DOB: 31/12/1972 attempted to incite other prisoners to violence. Responding staff then relocated Prisoners SMITH, PRICE, MANWARRING and DACOSTA to Detention Unit A5 and they were housed in that location on Safety Orders. All other prisoners in Unit A1 were secured in their cells. General Incident Number 203027 Reporting Officer HILTON, Clive Area Unit A1 Cause Prisoners Challenging the Good Order and Discipline of the Facility. Action Taken 1. Prisoners SMITH, PRICE, MANWARRING and DACOSTA assessed by a Nurse. During this assessment all four prisoners were noted to have no injuries. 2. Prisoners SMITH, PRICE, MANWARRING and DACOSTA relocated to Unit A5 and secured in that location on Safety Orders. 3. Several staff were assaulted and received minor injuries during the restraint of Prisoners SMITH, PRICE, MANWARRING and DACOSTA. 4. CSO s Kevin WILLIAMS, Robert MOSSMAN, Andre MULLER, Brendan SMITH, John CORICA and Stuart ANDERSON all received treatment from nursing staff for minor injuries and were assessed fit for return to duty. 5. Operational Debrief conducted with staff involved in the incident. 6. Staff involved in the incident have been offered EAP counselling. Further Action 1. General Manager notified. 2. Deputy General Manager notified. 3. CSIU notified by way of this report. Comments CCTV footage to be reviewed. A CSIU investigation is requested.
