I have developed educational curriculum, provided staff development training, provided consultative services, created assessment models/surveys, and conducted evaluations. This will entail assessing some process level indicators (e.g. participation satisfaction, program curriculum delivery) and documenting and providing evidence on whether or not the program is accomplishing its goals and objectives through the three identified performance measures: 1. Students regularly participating in the program will meet or exceed state and local academic achievement standards in reading and math; 2. Students regularly participating in the program will show improvement in the performance measures of school attendance, classroom performance and/or reduced disciplinary referrals; and 3. Participants in 21st Century programs will demonstrate additional positive educational, social and behavioral changes Education Consultant - New York University, Metropolitan Center for Urban Education As the Pittsburgh-based consultant, I advise and coach building leadership and faculty in creating and sustaining a strong, culturally responsive, inquiry-based, rigorous school and classroom culture. I also engage with high school students through focus group discussions, individual interviews, and student projects centered in school climate and student motivation. Evaluation Consultant - Operation Better Block (Pittsburgh, PA) As an evaluator and education consultant, I work with this community-based non-profit organization to provide services to their STEM based afterschool program. My responsibilities include conducting a culturally responsive evaluation of their summer program and school-year afterschool program, providing professional development and technical assistance support to the STEM afterschool directors in the areas of youth development, program development, and curriculum development. Research Consultant - Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative (Pittsburgh, PA and Winston- Salem, North Carolina) I serve as a research evaluation consultant with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services for their Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative focusing on helping young people make successful transitions from foster care to adulthood. I conducted an environmental scan to access the current needs and gaps in services to providing a comprehensive wraparound network to support foster care youth. This was done through focus groups and individual interviews with community stakeholders, funders, youth and young adults, and program staff by gathering information about state and federal policies, community investment opportunities, permanence, housing, health, educational and financial supports for foster care youth. Likewise, I provided technical support to transitional living staff of the Winston-Salem Department of Social Services. Adjunct Faculty - Community College of Allegheny County I teach education and developmental courses that are designed to help students acquire strategies essential for college study including taking classroom notes, developing time management skills, preparing for tests, organizing a notebook and developing communication skills. In addition, students learn basic research skills.
