FA C I L I TAT O R R o n a S t e r l i n g - C o l l i n s, MSW I am honoured to be introduced to you; my name is Rona Sterling-Collins, Quistaletko, from the Nlha'7kapmx Nation. I was born and raised on Joeyaska Reserve where I live with my family, in the beautiful Nicola Valley (Merritt, British Columbia). My life s work is dedicated to Aboriginal people. I have worked with Aboriginal communities for thirty years. In 1996 I incepted a consulting business, which I continue to operate today. My work is primarily with Aboriginal organizations and communities as well as organizations serving Aboriginal clients. I bring a wholistic perspective to my work to inspire and empower others. I strive to approach my life from a wholistic perspective utilizing First Nations culture and traditions and philosophy. I incorporate this philosophy into my work and personal life. I enjoy having tea with family and friends, picking huckleberries, having laughs with others and marveling at my kids and what I learn from them. I have a Master s Degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria. My Social work training grounded me in my culture and prepared me for the work that I do with Aboriginal communities. My earlier training includes certificates in Sexual Abuse Worker Training, Business Management, Legal Stenography and ongoing short-courses and training events. I have undertaken many training events related to special needs, as our son is diagnosed with autism which has inspired me to learn as much as I can for his benefit and for the benefit of other Aboriginal children and families.
