PEF Grant and Scholarship programs enhance and enrich the academic experience of more than 13,000 students in Petaluma s 38 public, charter, and not-for-profit private schools. We believe in them. PROGRAMS Grants for Schools: Since 1983, PEF has given $2,749,106 to teachers and administrators to fund curriculum based projects not covered in the school budget. The purpose of our PEF Impact Grant Program is to reward innovative academic programs and foster excellence in education for all Petaluma area students. Scholarships for High School Graduates: The Petaluma Educational Foundation is honored to manage 56 Scholarship Programs for donors who provide the Foundation with clear criteria for selecting recipients. In 2014, we awarded 265 scholarships worth $215,350 to seniors graduating from all seven Petaluma high schools, bringing the total to $2,471,660 awarded since 1990. Endowed Funds: PEF manages over $4,004,000 (December 31, 2014) in component and endowed funds. Alphabet Soup Benefit Thrift Stores: Proceeds from the two downtown Petaluma thrift stores support the mission of PEF through donations of items, funds and volunteer service. PEF GRANTS a measurable benefit for our schools In early 2015, the PEF Grant Program awarded $222,974 to Petaluma schools to provide funding in the areas of: Health and Nutrition Fine Arts Humanities Literacy and ELL Math and Science T.E.C. Initiative Vocational Training/Life Skills In 2011, PEF launched the PEF T.E.C. Initiative: Transforming Education in the Classroom through technology. We select teachers and schools in Petaluma with the best vision, passion, plans and provide the dollars and the support they need to change the way in which they deliver instruction in the classroom using technology with sound, research-based practices.
