Well, we re still here serving our community after the summer. It was rough but we made it and some of our Northern members are already back. Everyone please be careful, there are lots of craze drivers out there. The machines are back in the post but for how long, we don t know? The Queen of Hearts has not been hit all summer and we re down to 10 cards left so hurry on down. The motion to bring back Smoking" in the post did not pass. Good news, on November 5 th ELVIS will be in the house. Thank you My brothers, Sisters and friends your Commander, Paul

Starting on the 3rd Saturday in January 2016, Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pins from the Department of Defense will be presented at the spaghetti dinner. These pins and the ceremony involved are recognition and thanks for service in Vietnam. If you are a Vietnam Vet or know of a Vietnam Vet please attend one of these dinners. The Chairman of the 9226 DOD Partnership committee will be present at each Dinner to make the presentation. If for any reason he is unavailable he will provide a suitable Substitute.

The next Committee meeting will be at 7:00pm on the 3rd Tuesday of October. The Committee was established and is working to generate funds to help the post pay its bills. The Committee is a VFW Post committee and is open to Auxiliary members too. The Chairman was appointed by the Post commander. So far we have had two meetings and are working on several projects. An electric guitar was donated by Eric Zuppinger of the Auxiliary. It was completely refinished in black, then a Local artist donated his talents to turn it into a beautiful POW/MIA tribute Guitar. It also bears the Battlefield Cross. We hope to have a picture ready for this issue, but we are not sure if we will have in time. We will be raffling off this guitar, tickets will sell for $5.00 each. We will sell wherever and whenever we can. We need to sell inside and outside the post, to get a larger donation base. The drawing will be held at the post the Evening of December 17th. You do not need be present to win. I am personally asking each person of the Post & The Auxiliary to please try and sell at least 5 tickets. We need your help to keep our doors open! We will run other monthly and weekly raffles on a regular basis. Come in and see what we have. The Monthlies will sell at $1.00 a ticket, 6 for $5.00 & 15 for $10.00. We are planning an 80lb Fiberglass Crossbow as our first monthly. Major events are in the works with the whole Post Family working together. Our Halloween party of course in October. We are working on the Pork Butts & Blues Salutes veterans fund raiser. There will be a Trash & Treasure sale in January, a Valentine dinner with Entertainment. Of course our Weds. trivia is going on now. On the second Sunday of October we will start our 7 card stud poker game. It will run from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The state has okayed penny Ante poker, our first games will accommodate up to 6 players. If we get more players we will set up more tables. The house supplies the dealer, cards and chips. No wild cards, limits on raises due to the fact that the state says no pot for a single hand can be over $10.00. Please come out and have fun and help your post. We all need to hang together or we won't have anywhere to hang! Fund Raising Chairman John V

AUXILIARY NEWS Dear Brother & Sisters: We are starting to see some familiar faces again. It is always so exciting to see the snowbirds returning. We have a great season planned, with suggestions and help from our Brothers, with some exciting dinners and events to make this season fun. Don't forget our dinner is on the second Saturday and we will be having our meatloaf dinner on 10/8. We had a wonderful POW/MIA ceremony and our special guest did not leave a dry eye in the house. Thanks to all the Brothers and Sisters that participated. The next dues letter is going out. Please renew today, December will be here before you know it. To all Men's Auxiliary members that wish to join please fill out an application and provide your eligible Veteran's DD214 so we can get you signed up. Your Sister in Service to our Veterans, Jane Niziolek

MEN S AUXILIARY NEWS Men s Auxiliary membership cards WILL be honored until January 1, 2017 NEWS FROM THE QUARTERMASTER We have six new members in the past month. We have quite a few enjoying our dinners, Post, Auxiliary and Riders/Honor Guard and enjoying a good drink with those dinners. This is partly due to the pleasant atmosphere at our Post. We are looking forward to our Snowbirds returning to roost and giving the Post a boost. Come in and enjoy your Post and your friends. God Bless Us all Phil Steinberg, Quartermaster

RIDERS GROUP NEWS We had a great poker run last month with participation from the Eagle Riders and some of our friends. It was a long day as our meal was the same day but as usual, we pulled it off and had a good time doing it. Our goal is to support our Veterans and our community by having these events so your participation is key. Thank you again. There will be no Riders meal in October due to scheduling conflicts but we should resume in November if scheduling permits.
